Brief History of Our National Cadet Corps (NCC) Unit

National cadet corps 4/4 (TN) BN NCC, which comes under 4 (TN) BN, Coimbatore-05 was started in our institution September 1964, on the very first day of starting of our institution.

  • Our unit has one Associate NCC Officer (ANO) and 90 cadets.
  • Every year students from first year degree course are enrolled as “Cadets”.
  • Cadets are given eight hour of institution training in foot drill, Arms drill, weapon training, Field craft, map reading, first aid, hygiene and sanitation, military history, military geography, current affairs etc.
  • In addition to the above regular activities, they devote their valuable time in social service activities, adventure activities, camp activities, rope exercises etc.
  • Our College NCC has produced many army officers and soldiers.

Main Events

  • Republic Day parade at Delhi-26 *January.
  • Prime ministers rally at Delhi-27 *January.
  • NCC Day-4* Sunday of November every year.

Creativity
On the day of every training programme our cadets are motivated to discuss the current topics

  • Debate on National Integration,
  • AIDS, Poverty, Pollution,
  • Unemployment Problem,
  • Water management,
  • Leadership qualities of the present leaders,
  • Terrorism etc.

Leadership

  • To develop the qualities of character and leadership, our 90 cadets are divided into 3 squads each consisting by the selected II Yr cadets and platoon by the selected cadets. Squad commanders i.e. III Yr cadets have to take classes to the other cadets.
  • Selected Cadets are involved in NCC Administration such as collecting and issuing NCC Clothing, deposit clothing from Unit Headquarters, maintaining attendance, writing works, keeping the office, store and implement rooms neat and clean, making arrangements for Refreshment and Cleaning the campus, Adventure training activities etc.
  • Bringing Weapons from Unit Headquarters.
