Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme for Wadhwani Foundation

‘The Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme’ was organised by the Institution’s Innovation Council of our College in association with the Wadhwani Foundation on 12.09.2023 for the students of the second and third year undergrads of the college (both aided and unaided wings) at G.K.D. Auditorium. Dr. A. Muthusamy, Principal, welcomed the gathering. Swami Anapekshananda, Secretary, delivered the benedictory address on the occasion. Dr. R. Sridhar, Director (Unaided Wing), introduced the resource persons and briefed them on the objectives and benefits of the entrepreneurship courses to be offered by our college.
It was followed by the chief guest’s address on “Entrepreneurship Development” delivered by Dr. R. Sujatha, Principal, Entrepreneur Education, Wadhwani Entrepreneur, Wadhwani Foundation. The session was accompanied by Mr. Naved Ahmed, Regional Manager (South), Wadhwani Entrepreneur, Wadhwani Foundation. Dr. C. R. Sakthivel, Associate Professor of Computer Science (Unaided Wing), proposed the formal vote of thanks. The programme was coordinated by Dr. R. Mayilsamy, Assistant Professor of Cooperation. Totally 700 students attended and benefited.

Two-day National Workshop on ‘Impact of Mathematics in Medical Era’ (NWIMME-2023)  

The Department of Mathematics organized a two-day National Workshop on ‘Impact of Mathematics in Medical Era’ (NWIMME-2023) on 14 and 15 September 2023. The workshop started with prayer. Dr. K. Sathiyanathan, Head of the Department of Mathematics, welcomed the gathering. Swami Buddhidananda, Ramalrishna Mission Vidyalaya (Deputy Controller of Examination, Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research, Coimbatore), formally inaugurated the workshop and blessed the gathering. Dr. M. Sethuraman, Head of the Department of Physics, felicitated the programme. Dr. Debabrata Datta, Department of Information Technology, Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata, who was the chief guest of the day, gave the special address on the occasion.
A total of six sessions were conducted, as detailed below:
• Session I: PDE-based Medical Imaging Segmentation and Geometric Active Contours by Dr. Debabrata Datta.
• Session II: Mathematics Behind Machine Learning Algorithms for Medical Images by Dr. Debabrata Datta.
• Session III: Implementation towards Image Processing and Machine Learning (Lab Session) by Dr. Debabrata Datta.
• Session IV: Medical Image Processing using Python by Dr. R. Sridhar, Director (Unaided Wing).
• Session V: Monte-Carlo Simulation and its Application to Medical Images by Dr. Debabrata Datta.
• Session VI: Artificial Neural Networks and Their Applications by Dr. K. Madhialagan, Assistant Professor, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore.
The valedictory function was held on September 15, 2023. Dr. S. Santhosh Kumar, organiser of NWIMME-2023, elaborated on the report of the workshop. Totally, 94 participants participated and benefited.

The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) and the Department of Physics of our College jointly organized a programme on “The Celebrations of Successful Landing of Chandrayan III on the South Pole of the Moon” on 14.09.2023 at Multipurpose Hall, Unaided wing. Dr. K. Sathish Kumar, Programme Coordinator & Associate Professor of Physics, welcomed the gatherings. Swami Dinatananda, Secretary, Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Swami Shivananda Hr. Sec. School, presided over the programme. Dr. R. Vengatesan, former Head, Radiological and Environmental Division, Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, Kalpakkam, was the resource person and deliverd a talk about the history of ISRO and Chandrayan III. Skill Development Programme (LANDAU-05)

The Department of Mathematics organized a Skill Development Programme (LANDAU-05) on 18.08.2023 with the aim of enhancing the mathematical, analytical, and logical skills of students to overcome their fear of mathematics. Sri. Ashwin from II M.Sc. Mathematics welcomed the gathering. Dr. A. Muthusamy, Principal of the college, delivered the presidential address. Dr. K. Sathiyanathan, Associate Professor and Head, delivered a keynote address. Dr. R. Nirmalkumar, Assistant Professor of Mathematics and Programme Coordinator, explained the dynamics of the programme.
The math quiz and math sketching events were conducted for the students (Class XII) of Swami Shivananda Higher Secondary School. Also, various programmes like Connexion and Master Minds events were conducted for our students to enhance their mathematical skills. All the events were organized by the students of II M.Sc. Mathematics. A total of 36 school students attended the programme. Finally, prizes were distributed to the winners. Sri. Shibichakravathi, II, M.Sc. Mathematics, proposed the vote of thanks.

Conceptualization and Active Experimentation Programme

  • The ‘Conceptualization and Active Experimentation Programme’ (CAEP) was organized by the Department of Chemistry for the XI (Boys section) of Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Swami Shivananda Higher Secondary School students on 05.08.2023. Dr. A. Murugesh, Assistant Professor in Chemistry drove the session and prioritizes the knowledge on various concentration terms such as molarity, molality, normality, mass percentage and ppm. A total of 27 students were benefited.
  • A one-day Conceptualization and Active Rejuvenation with Experimentation (CARE) program was conducted for XI students of Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Swami Shivananda Higher Secondary School on 05.08.2023. Dr. R. Suresh and Dr. S. Gopi, Assistant Professors in Physics of our College handled the class on Gravitation and Elasticity. They elucidated the theory, experimental arrangement and various measuring methods to find gravity and young’s modulus. They are also practically demonstrated the determination of ‘g’ by compound pendulum and determination of young’s modulus using pin and microscope method. A total of 63 students were benefited.
  • The ‘Conceptualization and Active Experimentation Programme’ (CAEP) was organized by the Department of Chemistry for the XI (Girls students) of Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Swami Shivananda Higher Secondary School on 22.07.2023. Dr. B. Sivasenthilkumar, Assistant Professor of Chemistry handled the session and promulgates the knowledge on organic chemistry topics such as man-made and natural organic compounds, extraction and purification techniques, distillation processes, column and liquid chromatographic methods. A total of 36 students were benefited.

Student Induction Programme

As per the direction of the University Grants Commission (UGC), the Student Induction Programme (SIP) for the academic year 2023–24 was organised with the motto “An Innovative Guidance with a Progressive Approach to Shift the New Entrants into Graduate Learners” by IQAC of our College of Arts and Science for the first-year UG students from 27.06.2023 to 07.07.2023 at Swami Akhandhananda Hostel. The programme was stated with the aim of imparting the history and tradition of Vidyalaya and the regular curricular, co-curricular, and extra-curricular activities of the college. The inaugural session of the programme started with the rituals offered to the freshmen. Dr. A. Muthusamy, Principal, welcomed the gathering. Swami Nirmaleshananda, Secretary of the College, and Swami Anapekshananda, In-Charge, Un-aided Wing of the College, presided over the programme and delivered the benedictory address. Dr. K. Kandappan, Dean, Student Support Services, briefed the audience on the various service schemes and events carried out by the Vidyalaya for the welfare of society. Dr. K. Shanmugasundaram, IQAC Coordinator, highlighted the significance of the programme and the importance of the student Induction programme.
The activities of various forums like NSS, NCC, YRC, Sports, CDC, Competitive Examination Cell, Scholarship and Education loan, CGP cell, Guidance and Counselling cell, and Fine Arts Club were explained by respective faculty members. The mechanism of computing internal components, examination procedures, a code of conduct, and accessing e-learning resources were also explained to the students.
During the period, motivational talks by various alumni and Industrialists, Personality development Sessions by experts, Health and hygiene, Drug and Substance Abuse awareness, and some stretching exercises were also discussed. Finally, to assess the learning level of the students’, entry-level assessment and exit-level assessment tests were conducted at their respective Department levels.

Educational Awareness

The Department of Social Work and National Child Labour Project, Coimbatore jointly organized a Community organization Programme on “Educational Awareness” at Kumaran Nagar, Annur on 7th April 2023. Totally, 100 school children with their parents participated.

Women Empowerment and Sustainability

The Department of Social Work conducted a Community organization Programme on “Women Empowerment for Economical Sustainability” at Kuntha Colony, Karamadai on 13th April 2023. Totally, 25 members from four self-help groups participated.Dr. C. Elancheliyan, Assistant Professor of Social Work delivered a talk on “Women Empowerment and Sustainability”.

World Social Work Day

The Department of Social Work of our College observed “World Social Work Day” on 21.03.2023. The students of Social Work welcomed all the students and staff members (Both Teaching and Non-teaching) members of our college by distributing sweets and greeting cards containing the theme of Social Work Day – 2023, “Respect the Diversity Through Joint Social Action” at the college entrance. Sri A. B. Jai Vivek, II year MSW student, delivered a talk on “Importance of Social Work Profession and Social Work Day 2023” at the Morning Prayer.

This was Followed by a meeting was conducted by the Department. Sri P. Praveenkumar, I year student of MSW, welcomed the gathering. Dr. K. Kandappan, Dean of Student Support Service, presided over the function and delivered the presidential address. Dr. K. Thirumalaisamy, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Social Work, introduced the resource person. Sri S. Balamurugan, Deputy General Manager, Coimbatore Cancer Foundation, Coimbatore, acted as a resource person and delivered a special talk. Sri S. Gokul, I year student of MSW proposed a Vote of thanks.

In the afternoon of the same day, five MSW students’ namely, Sri S. Venkateshan, Sri Hariprasadh, Sri P. S. Abikannan, Sri A. B. Christopher Joshua and Sri G. Hariharan has delivered a discourse on “The importance of Social Work Day” through their experience as a Social Work Trainees. Dr. C. As a part of ‘Naan Mudhalvan Thittam’ of Tamil Nadu Government an exposure visit for the school students have been arranged and conducted on 27.02.2023. Dr. K. 4 Faculty Members with 11 students of Department of Commerce, visited Orphanage at Sri Sangara Sevalayam Charitable Trust, Karuvalur, Tirupur. Students and Staff contributed Rs.5,000/- by donating kitchen utensils. The students have performed various cultural activities.

Academic Extension Programme

The Department of Computer Science of our College organized an Academic Extension Programme to the Government High School, Narashimanaickenpalayam on 13.09.2022 for the students of 8th and 9th standard. Dr. R. Ramachandran, Headmaster, welcomed the gathering.

Industry Visit

The Department of Chemistry arranged an industrial visit for the UG final year students on December 10, 2022. A total of 36 students along with two faculty members (Dr. G. Ayyannan and Dr. S. Sathiyaraj) visited WAFE Auxiliary Chemicals, Karukkampalayam, Coimbatore and learned about the processes involved in sizing of materials and characterization techniques such as particle size analyzer, UV-Vis and InfraRed (IR) spectroscopy.

  • Dr.M.Jaikumar Associate Professor & HoD of BCA & Sri.M.K.Prakash Asst Professor in BCA served  as  volunteers in our RMV Medical camp at Kallar Pudur Tribal village on 18.12.2022.
  • M. Jaikumar Associate Prof & HoD of BCA and 5 students from second year BCA served as volunteers in our RMV Medical camp at Kallar Pudur Tribal village. This village have been adopted by BCA department under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan on 30.10.2022.
  • Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Medical Camp conducted at Maanaar Tribal Village. 2 Students from II BCA volunteered in this medical camp on 6.11.22.
