  • English Literary Association meeting was conducted on 02.09.2016. Dr.S.Srihari, Assistant Professor, Department of Communication and Media Studies, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore delivered special lecture on “Social Media in Education; changes and influences”. Nearly 95 students benefited out of it.
  • The Department of English organized two days programme named “The House of Thespians and Avon Fest” on 11.04.2017 and 12.04.2017 respectively. The Programme comprised of two events, on stage events like poem recitation, mime, just a minute, quiz, etc and off stage events such as Essay writing, story writing, etc. A total of 120 I, II and III UG English Literature students participated in the programme.
  • The Department of English conducted Literary Association Meeting on 24.02.2017. Mrs. V. Thilagavathy, Asst. Prof. of English, PSG College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore – delivered a talk “Growth of Realism, Surrealism and Magical Realism in Literature” A total of 120 students & Staff benefited out of it.

  • Curriculum Development Cell has organised a Special meeting on “Question Setting” on 16.09.2016 at Mini Auditorium.  Dr. A. Chandramohan, HOD of Chemistry, Dr. K. Nagaraju, HOD of Social Work and Dr. V. Neelakandan, Associate Professor of English served as resource persons. More than 100 faculty members of both aided and unaided attended the meeting.
  • Dr. R. Chandrasekar, HOD of English served as Subject expert in Doctoral Committee meeting in the department of English at Government Arts College, Coimbatore on 23.08.2016.

He also attended the Board of Studies meeting in English at Nirmala College for Women, Coimbatore on 07.01.2017. Further he served as subject expert in Doctoral Committee meeting at Government Arts College, Coimbatore on 09.01.2017.

  • The Orientation and Welcome programme for I Year students was conducted on 20.06.2016. Swami Sahanananda blessed the students. Rituals conducted to the first year students by second and third year students was the highlight of this programme.
  • II & III year UG students participated in the International Yoga Day celebration held at Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Maruthi College of Physical Education on 21.06.2016.
  • Sri. Vetrikumar, I B.A. English Literature delivered a talk in the Morning Prayer on “The Life history of Vallalar” on 05.09.2016.
  • The Departments of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Electronics, Computer Science and English jointly organized an Exhibition, MIRSCI with the theme of MIRACLE SCIENCE on 06.10.2016 and 07.10.2016 for creating interest in the basics of science among school students. The exhibition was inaugurated by Swami Punyavratananda, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya on 06.10.2016. More than 1350 students from twelve schools from the Coimbatore district visited the exhibition and benefited. Three Exhibits from each department were selected for awarding the first, second and third prizes respectively.
  • Cadet Ram Prakash, II B.A. English Literature attended a Basic Leadership camp at Karpagam University, Coimbatore from 09.07.2016 to 18.07.2016.
  • L/CPL D. Ramprakash, III B.A English Literature and Cdt. Maavosri of I B.Sc Physics attended Advance Leadership Camp conducted by NCC GP Head Quarters, Coimbatore from 03.12.2016 to 14.12.2016 at Sri Sakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore.
  • L/CPL D. Ramprakash, III B.A English Literature bagged the medal for the “Best Cadet of Tamil Nadu Diectorate”.
  • Thirty four students from III BA English Literature with two staff members start an Educational Tour on 23.09.2016 to various places in connection with Travel writing; Theory and Practice course.
  • Miss Athira, M.Phil (FT) scholar in English has cleared NET examination with JRF in November 2016 Batch.

  • Remedial Coaching Classes in English, Mathematics and Science have been planned to conduct for academically weaker section in VI, VII & VIII students of TAT Kalanilayam. The Programme has been inaugurated and blessed by Swami Nirmaleshananda on 28.06.2016. The Principal, HoDs of English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and subject coaches attended the programme.
