  • The Orientation and Welcome programme for I Year UG students was conducted on 20.06.2016. Swami Sahanananda blessed the students. Rituals conducted to the first year students by second and third year students was the highlight of this programme.

  • College opened for all I year PG Programmes on 20.06.2016, Monday.
  • B.Ed and M.Ed examinations of Tamilnadu Teachers Education University, Chennai are being conducted from 17.06.2016 to 16.07.2016 at our college premises. Around 270 students from five colleges take up their examinations.
  • One day Workshop on  “Man Making Education” was held on 02.07.2016 at GKD Auditorium for I year UG students and staff members. Swami Abhiramanandaji, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya delivered Benedictory Address. Dr. N. Muthaiah, Principal, College of Education, delivered a talk on “Empowering the Youth”. Dr. N. Ramanan, Homeopathy Consultant, Coimbatore delivered a lecture on “Personal Hygiene and Sanitation. National Anthem singing practice was given by. Dr. Anand, Assistant Professor of Tamil. The National Anthem and its meaning were displayed on the screen using LCD Projector. Also he explains the correct pronunciation of each word in the National Anthem. A total of 560 students and 75 staff members participated and benefited in the programme.

  • A management staff meeting was held on 04.07.2016 at Mini Auditorium to create awareness about on-line academic programmes. Dr. R. Sridhar, Director, Unaided Wing explained the various on-line academic programmes available for the benefit of staff and students. A total of 65 staff members attended the meeting.

  • The Department of Chemistry conducted a Hands on Training Programme on the use of Fire Extinguishers to all the Non teaching staff, Laboratory Assistants and Research scholars on 25.07.2016. Mr. AD. Aananthan, Director-Training, 3S fire & safety equipments, Coimbatore demonstrated the method of handling the fire extinguisher during the fire accident. Also he explained various first aid methods to be done at the time of road accidents, electric shock and a person susceptible to fits.

  • The inaugural function of the Value added course on “Mathematical Structures for SET/NET Competitive Examinations” was held on 30.07.2016 in the Department of Mathematics. Dr. R.   • Department of Cooperation organized a One day State Level Inter-Collegiate students Meet Royal Coop – 2016 on “Sharing the Outcomes Together” on 29.07.2016.   • Parents and Teachers Meeting was conducted on 11 Sept 2016.The gathering was welcomed by Dr K Kandappan, Dean, Student Support Services,  in the presence of Swami Garishthananda, Secretary of the College. The new features  in the academic  programme such as Extra Credit Courses, Add-on Courses, Value Added Courses for all UG programmes and Extra Credit for non-academic programmes were explained by Dean, Director and  Head of the Departments.   • An alumni meeting of unaided wing was conducted on  18 Sept 2016. 205 Alumni attended the meeting.  The gathering was welcomed by Principal, blessed by Swami Abhiramananda Maharaj, Secretary of Vidyalaya in the presence of Swami Garishthananda Maharaj, Secretary of the college and Dr K Kandappan, Dean of Student Support Services  of  the College.  Dr R Sridhar briefed about the activities of Unaided Wing. He imparted the teachers of their qualities, duties and responsibility with the guidance offered by Lord Sri Krishna in Mahabharata.   • The Departments of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Electronics, Computer Science and English jointly organized an Exhibition, MIRSCI with the theme of MIRACLE SCIENCE on 06.10.2016 and 07.10.2016 for creating interest in the basics of science among school students. The exhibition was inaugurated by Swami Punyavratananda, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya on 06.10.2016. More than 1350 students from twelve schools from the Coimbatore district visited the exhibition and benefited. Three Exhibits from each department were selected for awarding the first, second and third prizes respectively.

  • Remedial Coaching Class in Mathematics has been planned to conduct for academically weaker section in XI students of Govt. Higher  Secondary School, Naickenpalayam by the department of Mathematics, as a part of Academic Extension Activity. The Programme has been inaugurated by Swami Garishthananda, Secretary of our College on 19.10.2016.   • World Commerce Day was celebrated on 10 Nov 2016 at GKD Auditorium in the presence of commerce students of Swami Shivananda Higher Secondary School. CA.N.N.Shanmugavadivel, Chairman of  ICAI,  Coimbatore chapter welcomed the gathering, Swami Nirmaleshananda Maharaj, Secretary of Swami Shivananda Higher Secondary School blessed the occasion, Dr.R.Sridhar, Director (Unaided wing) delivered a short talk on the importance of commerce day and CA.Gopinath  Ex-Chairman of  ICAI,Coimbatore chapter delivered a talk on “Career Opportunities to Become a Chartered Accountant and Job Opportunities in the field of Commerce”.   • Our College offered a Certificate Course on “Instrumentation Techniques” under Students Exchange Programme from 25.11.2016 to 27.11.2016 to the III B. Sc. Chemistry Students of Kamaraj College, Tuticorin. A total of 32 (18 Boys and 14 Girls) students and one faculty member participated and successfully completed the course.   • The college was closed for Bharathiar University central valuation from 14.12.2016 and reopened on 19.12.2016.
  • In connection with our Nation’s move towards Cashless Economy, ‘Vittiya Saksharta Abhiyan’ (Finance Literacy Programme) (VISAKA) has been launched by Ministry of Human Resource Development, New Delhi. As a part of this programme, arrangements have been made on 20.12.2016 to register our students and faculty members as volunteers at MHRD website to encourage and motivate all payers and payees to use a digitally enabled cashless economic system for transfer of funds.

  • The Pongal festival was celebrated at our college on 10.01.2017.   • An intercollegiate meet was conducted on 3 Feb 2017. Dr K Kandappan, Dean of Student Support Services, welcomed the  gathering, Swami Swayamprabhananda delivered benediction address, and Sri M Balasubramaniam, Managing Director of 365 Media, delivered inaugural address. 127 students from 13 colleges participated in the events such as Paper Presentation, Word Hunt, Technical Quiz and Marketing. Dr NGP Arts and Science College, Coimbatore won over-all Championship in the Knock IT-2017. Prizes were distributed by Secretary of the college in the valedictory function.

  • Vidyalaya Foundation Day was celebrated on 03.02.2017. In the Morning Prayer assembly, Swami Garishthananda, Secretary of our college delivered a talk on the origin and evolution of Vidyalaya institutions and efforts undertaken by    Ayya Dr. T.S. Auditorium, in view of felicitating Dr. C. Viswanathan, Head, department of Tamil retiring this academic year. Swami Nirmaleshananda, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya presided over the conference and released the book entitled “Devaara Thiruvasagathil Vignanamum, Meignanamum”.   • Orientation Programme about “Internship Training in Auditors Office” was conducted for  III B.Com on 13 Feb 2017 . CA Nagaraj delivered a talk on “Importance of Internship” in the presence of Director and Head of B.Com and B.Com(CA). 52 students  and their parents attended the meeting . 21 auditor’s provided  internship atleast for 2 or 3 students. 52 students started their internship from 14 Feb 201 to 31 March  2017 at 21 different auditor’s office.

  • Documentary film on “MUTHALVAR MAHATHMA” was screened on 14.02.2017 at GKD Auditorium. A total of 500 I, II UG students and staff members exposed to it.
  • Swami Garishthananda, Secretary of our college blessed the occasion with Benediction Address. Mr. Abhijit Sreenivas, Head – Industry Interface, External Research & Academic Alliances – India ANZ & Sri Lanka and Mr. G.Saravanan , Assistant General Manager – Academic Initiatives visited our college on 15 Feb 2017. Mr Abhijit Sreenivas announced that it is  the first Arts and Science College in Tamilnadu to be recognized as a Center of Academic Excellence for Data Science and Big Data  Analytics of DELL-EMC and delivered a talk on “Importance of Data Science and Big Data” to III year students of Computer Science, Information Technology and Computer Application.

  • The Department of Physics conducted a State Level Symposium on “ALBEDO’17” on 17.03.2017. Swami Garishthananda, inaugurated the function. Dr. K.   • Our College offered a Certificate Course on “Instrumentation Techniques” under Students Exchange Programme on 25.02.2017 & 26.02.2017 to the III B. Sc.   • Research and Faculty Enrichment Council organized two day Faculty Development Programme on “Open Source Operation System and Applications” on 13th and 14th June 2016. Dr. R. Sridhar gave brief introduction about the need of this programme. Demonstration and hands on training on the Open Source Operating System and Libre Office were given by Mr. G. Dinesh and Mr. S.P. Muthuraja of our college. A total of eighty faculty members from FDMSE, College of Education and our college participated in the first day programme.

NSS Activities

  • NSS Unit and Periyanaickenpalayam Town Panchayat jointly organized a Rally on Plastic Eradication Awareness Campaign on 29.06.2016 at 11.00 am in periyanaickenpalayam. The programme was inaugurated by Sri Chandran, President in-charge, Periyanaickenpalayam panchayat.  A total of 125 members including 65 NSS volunteers and 4 NSS programme officers participated in this campaign.

  • After completing the rally programme, cleaning activity was started to clean the Government Hospital Campus and Road sides from Government Hospital to Railway Station, Periyanaickenpalayam. In this cleaning work, 60 NSS volunteers, 4 NSS programme officers and 25 sanitary workers were involved.

  • NSS Unit of our college organized an Orientation Programme on 14.07.2016 at GKD Auditorium for the newly enrolled NSS Volunteers. Dr. R. Baskar, NSS Programme Coordinator i/c, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore delivered a special address on “Features of NSS”. A total of 300 NSS volunteers and 4 NSS Programme Officers participated in this programme.

  • NSS Unit organized a Mountain Trekking and Cleaning programme at Palamalai Hills on 30.07.2016. The students have cleaned the Palamalai Temple, removed the plastic bags and spread the awareness among the public about the evils of using plastic bags.

  • The NSS Unit organized the Swach Bharath Campaign Programme on 12.08.2016 at Lord Chokkalingeswar Temple, Periyanaickenpalayam.  Dr.C. Jayabalakrishnan, Principal, Dr. K. Kandappan, Dean, Students Support Services and our NSS Programme officers, Dr. R. Mayilsamy, Sri K. Thirumalaiswamy, Dr. C. Mahendran and Dr. R. Anand participated in the Campaign. A group of 60 NSS volunteers cleaned the bushes and also planted saplings in and around the temple area. On the same day, another group of 25 NSS volunteers actively participated and cleaned the bushes and on the road side of Samayan Nagar, Periyanaickenpalayam Panchayat. The temple authorities and the public appreciated the service of our students.

  • Swacch Bharath activity (Cleaning Camp) was carried out in view of observing Gandhi Jayanthi on 03.10.2016 instead of 02.10.2016. The activity held at Police Station Campus, Periyanaickenpalayam. In this cleaning camp, 101 NSS Volunteers and 3 NSS Programme Officers have participated. The NSS volunteers cleaned the bushes, grasses and plastic bags in the campus. Srimat Swami Suviranandaji Maharaj, Assistant General Secretary, Ramakrishna Math & Mission, Belur Math observed the cleaning work and appreciated.

  • The Orientation meeting for Gurupooja Rice Collection for I year UG NSS volunteers was conducted on 21.12.2016 at GKD Auditorium. With blessings of Swami Garishthananda, Secretary of our college the meeting was convened. Dr. C. Jayabalakrishnan, Principal presided over the meeting, Sri. K. Sathishkumar, Principal, Gandhi Teacher Training Institute discussed about the method and norms to be followed during the rice collection. Dr. K. Kandappan, Dr. R.   • The Inaugural function for Gurupooja Rice Collection was held on 22.12.2016 at Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya College of Education Hostel. Swami Nirmaleshananda and Swami Harivaratananda blessed the students and inaugurated the programme.

  • The Rice Collection for Gurupooja was taken up for four days from 22.12.2016 to 25.12.2016. A total of 550 NSS volunteers, 32 staff members from aided and unaided wing, 4 NSS Programme Officers, Dean of Students Support Service of our college, were involved in the Rice Collection activity. They have covered the stretch of Kavundampalayam to Mettupalayam on the main road and nearby villages as well. They have also covered the places like Sirumugai, Alangkombu, Bethikuttai. They have collected a sum of Rs.2,49,410 (Rupees Two lakh forty nine thousand four hundred and ten only) and 40 bags (75kg) of rice.

  • The National Service Scheme of our college organized Swacch Bharath Campaign programme on 29.12.2016 and 30.12.2016 at Lord Chokkalingeswar Temple, Periyanaickenpalayam. Dr. K. Kandappan, Dean, Students Support Services and NSS Programme Officers Sri K. Thirumalaiswamy, Dr. R. Myilswamy and Dr. R. Anand participated in the campaign. Totally 52 NSS volunteers cleaned the bushes and grasses in the temple garden as well as surroundings of the temple.

  • On 18.02.2017 Mr.S. Rajkumar, Joint General Manager, NHDC Limited, Coimbatore explained the importance of Cashless transaction particularly mobile banking, Net banking etc. On the third day of the camp, 19.02.2017 preventive measures of Tuberculosis (TB) awareness rally was conducted at Alangombu area. In the evening,  Dr. P.Thirunavukkarasu, Associate Professor of Electronics delivered a speech on “Values of Life”.During the fourth day, 20.02.2017 Veterinary Camp was conducted in the Kalanur Village between 7.30 am and 12 noon. Dr. R. Satheesh, Government Veterinary Hospital, Karamadai and his team gave treatment to 63 cows and a dog.

In the evening voters awareness rally was conducted by 200 NSS volunteers. Jeyaraman, Chief Civil Surgeon (Dental), Government Hospital, Mettupalayam felicitated. Dr. K. Kandappan, Dean, Student Support Services and faculty members of Social Work and students attended the programme. In this programme 54 public were provided treatment and 19 among them were referred to audiogram test. All the 19 were taken to the Government Hospital, Mettupalayam for the test and benefited with hearing aid machine.

  • The Department of Social Work and Alcoholics Anonymous, Coimbatore jointly organized a One Day Workshop on Alcoholic Ideation and Resilience held at GKD Auditorium on 24.01.2017. Dr.T. Udhayakumar, Parthiban Nursing Home, Coimbatore -29 delivered Keynote address,  Sri S. Premkumar, Director, Alcoholic Anonymous, Coimbatore explained about the ill effects of alcoholism and preventive measures to be taken for avoiding it and also shared his experience with audience. Dr. K. Nagaraju, HOD of Social Work delivered a lecture on “Addiction – Theoretical Perspectives”. A total of 300 students from III year Unaided wing UG students, MSW students and eleven staff members participated in the programme.

  • Ragul, II M.Sc Mathematics has participated in the summer training programme in Mathematics conducted by the Ramanujan Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics, University of Madras during 23.05.2016 to 11.06.2016.
  • 70 out of 70 students of Commerce passed certificate examination on “Retail Associates” conducted by National Skill Development Corporation through Retail Sector Skill Council under Pradhana Mandri Kaushal Vikas Yojna (PMKVY). Students were trained by Global Vision Infocon Services Pvt Ltd.

  • Dr. S. Rameshkumar, Director of Physical Education is serving as a Coach in the Bharathiar University Kho-Kho (Male) team to participate in the south-zone Inter-university Kho-Kho tournament to be held at Mangalore University from 11.01.2017 to 13.01.2017. The coaching camp is scheduled from 04.01.2017 to 10.01.2017 in our college premises.
  • Sri G. Balasundar, Director of Physical Education acted as a Coach in the Bharathiar University softball team. The team will participate in the All India Softball tournament to be held at Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala from 28.01.2017 to 31.01.2017. The Coach camp is being conducted in our college ground from 21.01.2017 to 27.01.2017.

Swami Anapekshananda, Correspondent, Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Polytechnic College presided over the function and Dr. P.J. Sebastian, Professor, Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University – General and Adapted Physical Education and Yoga, Coimbatore Campus acted as a chief guest. Swami Anapekshananda hoisted the National Flag and Dr.P.J. Sebastian hoisted the Sports day Flag. Sports leader V. Paneerselvam, III B.Sc Computer Science received the torch from Swami Anapekshananda. Dr. P.J. Sebasitan inaugurated the sports day celebration.  Dr. P.J. Sebastian and Dr. K.Kandappan, Dean, Students Support Services distributed prizes to students and staff members.
