• Admission to all the UG programmes for the academic year 2016-17   was held on 01.06.2016.
• Child Labour Abolition oath has been taken by our staff members on 10.06.2016 at 11.00 am in order to abolish Child Labour.

• College was reopened for II and III UG and II PG programmes on 16.06.2016, Thursday after summer vacation.
• The Orientation and Welcome programme for I Year UG students was conducted on 20.06.2016. Swami Sahanananda blessed the students. Rituals conducted to the first year students by second and third year students was the highlight of this programme.

• The Passing Board for the instant examination was held on 16.06.2016.
• Admissions for all PG programmes were held on 15.06.2016 for the academic year 2016 – 17.
• College opened for all I year PG Programmes on 20.06.2016, Monday.
• B.Ed and M.Ed examinations of Tamilnadu Teachers Education University, Chennai are being conducted from 17.06.2016 to 16.07.2016 at our college premises. Around 270 students from five colleges take up their examinations.
• One day Workshop on  “Man Making Education” was held on 02.07.2016 at GKD Auditorium for I year UG students and staff members. Swami Abhiramanandaji, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya delivered Benedictory Address. Dr. N. Muthaiah, Principal, College of Education, delivered a talk on “Empowering the Youth”. Dr. N. Ramanan, Homeopathy Consultant, Coimbatore delivered a lecture on “Personal Hygiene and Sanitation. National Anthem singing practice was given by. Dr. Anand, Assistant Professor of Tamil. The National Anthem and its meaning were displayed on the screen using LCD Projector. Also he explains the correct pronunciation of each word in the National Anthem. A total of 560 students and 75 staff members participated and benefited in the programme.

• A management staff meeting was held on 04.07.2016 at Mini Auditorium to create awareness about on-line academic programmes. Dr. R. Sridhar, Director, Unaided Wing explained the various on-line academic programmes available for the benefit of staff and students. A total of 65 staff members attended the meeting.

 

• The Department of Chemistry conducted a Hands on Training Programme on the use of Fire Extinguishers to all the Non teaching staff, Laboratory Assistants and Research scholars on 25.07.2016. Mr. AD. Aananthan, Director-Training, 3S fire & safety equipments, Coimbatore demonstrated the method of handling the fire extinguisher during the fire accident. Also he explained various first aid methods to be done at the time of road accidents, electric shock and a person susceptible to fits.

• Swami Garishthananda, Secretary of our college hoisted the Cooperative Flag in the event of International Cooperative Day on 29.07.2016.

• The inaugural function of the Value added course on “Mathematical Structures for SET/NET Competitive Examinations” was held on 30.07.2016 in the Department of Mathematics. Dr. R. Murugesu, HOD of Mathematics welcomed the gathering. Swami Garishthananda, blessed the participants. Dr.C.Jayabalakrishnan, Principal delivered the special address. Dr. K. Sathiyanathan, Associate Professor of Mathematics proposed vote of thanks. The Classes are being taken by Dr. Karuppaiah, Guest Faculty from the Department of Mathematics of Bharathiar University. A total of 30 PG students and Research Scholars from the Department of Mathematics registered for this course.

• Department of Cooperation organized a One day State Level Inter-Collegiate students Meet Royal Coop – 2016 on “Sharing the Outcomes Together” on 29.07.2016. Swami Garishthananda, presided over the function. Mr. P. Loganathan, Joint Registrar / Managing Director, District Central Cooperative Bank, Coimbatore delivered the Keynote address. 336 students from twelve colleges and 167 students from our Cooperation department participated in the programme.

• The Literary Club of our College organizes a talk on Important National and International events of the days to create awareness among the students. In this connection,

i)  Sri. David Billa, I B.Sc Chemistry delivered a talk in the morning prayer on “Causes and the Consequences of the First World War” on 28.07.2016.

ii) Sri. S. Rajkumar, III B.Sc Chemistry delivered a talk in the Morning Prayer on “The Impact of Quit India Movement” on 09.08.2016.

iii) Sri. S. Madhankumar, Ph.D Scholar in Chemistry delivered a talk on “The Importance of celebrating Independence Day and  Sri Aurobindo’s history” on 13.08.2016.

• The Secretary, The Principal, the HoD of Chemistry, Dr. G. Raja and  Sri.V.Mohanraj, Assistant Professors of Chemistry of our College and Dr.P.Palanichamy, Assistant Professor of Chemistry, Pioneer Kumarasamy College, Nagercoil discussed about the initiation of faculty exchange programme on 08.08.2016 in the Department of Chemistry of the Colleges concerned.

• College Committee meeting was held on 09.08.2016 at 3.30 p.m.
• The Inaugural function of SRMV Advanced Research Instrumentation Centre, Mathematics Research Laboratory and Digital Learning Centre in our college was held on 09.08.2016.

SRMV Advanced Research Instrumentation Centre was opened by our Vidyalaya Secretary, Rev. Swami Abhiramananda.

Dr.G. Parameswari, Joint Director of Collegiate Education, Coimbatore Region opened the Mathematics Research Laboratory.

EDU HUB (Digital Learning Centre) was opened by Sri R. Somasundaram, Velumani Industries, Coimbatore. All the Monastics, head of the Institutions of Vidyalaya and staff members attended the function.

• Research and Faculty Enrichment Council and the Department of Chemistry jointly organized a One day Workshop on “Micro Scale Chemistry Experiments for Cost Reduction” on 16.08.2016 at GKD Auditorium.  Dr. S. Murugan, HOD of Chemistry (Retired), ST Hindu College, Nagercoil spoke about the Importance and Advantage of Micro Scale Chemistry Experiments for Cost Reduction with demonstration of Chemical Experiments. Principal, Heads of various departments and staff members from Chemistry and Physics attended the programme. Nearly 225 students from Chemistry and Physics departments participated.

• The 70th Independence Day was celebrated by all Vidyalaya institutions on the Maruthi College ground on 15.08.2016, at 7.00 am. Swami Nirmaleshananda presided over the function and hoisted the National Flag NSS and Sports batch students of our college secured first place and won the Rolling Trophy of Vidyalaya in the Marchfast held for senior level.

Dr. C. Jayabalakrishnan, Principal of our College hoisted the National Flag at Aided wing.

• Dr K Kandappan, Dean, Student Support Services of our college, hoisted National Flag on Independence Day at Unaided Wing.

• Literary Club of our College organized a speech on “Imagery View on Thirunavukarasar Devaaram”, delivered by Dr. C. Viswanathan, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Tamil on 18.08.2016 at Mini Auditorium. Around seventy staff members participated in the programme.

• Sri P. Kumaraswamy, President, Pioneer Kumaraswamy College, Nagercoil and Mrs. Latha Kumaraswamy, College Committee Member of Pioneer Kumaraswamy College visited our college on 23.08.2016. They met Secretary, Principal, Director (Unaided wing) and Dr. N. Shumugom, Associate Professor of Tamil and discussed about the various academic enhancement activities to be carried out between two institutions.

• CIA tests II commenced for both UG and PG Programmes on 29.08.2016.
• A team of nine members from Sri Kaliswari College, Sivakasi headed by the Principal visited our college on 30.08.2016 and discussed with the Secretary, Principal, Director (Unaided wing), IQAC Coordinator, HoDs and Faculty members of Mathematics, Chemistry, Computer Science and Physics departments for various possible academic and research activities to be initiated between two colleges in near future.

• Sri V. Mohanraj, Assistant Professor of Chemistry delivered a talk on “Chemical View on Herbal Components” on 01.09.2016 at Mini Auditorium organized by Literary Club of our College. A total of sixty staff members participated in the programme.

• Orientation Programme about “Internship Training in Auditors Office” was conducted for  III B.Com(CA) on 13 Aug 2016 . CA Nagaraj delivered a talk on “Importance of Internship” in the presence of Principal, Director and Dr K Kandappan, Dean of Student Support Services, of the college. 58 students  and their parents attended the meeting . 21 auditor’s provided  internship atleast for 2 or 3 students. 58 students started their internship from 16 Aug 2016 to 30 Sept 2016 at 21 different auditor’s office.

• Parents and Teachers Meeting was conducted on 11 Sept 2016.The gathering was welcomed by Dr K Kandappan, Dean, Student Support Services,  in the presence of Swami Garishthananda, Secretary of the College. The new features  in the academic  programme such as Extra Credit Courses, Add-on Courses, Value Added Courses for all UG programmes and Extra Credit for non-academic programmes were explained by Dean, Director and  Head of the Departments. Parents Meet for the students belonging to Computer Stream were conducted in the morning session and Commerce Stream were conducted in the afternoon session.

• An alumni meeting of unaided wing was conducted on  18 Sept 2016. 205 Alumni attended the meeting.  The gathering was welcomed by Principal, blessed by Swami Abhiramananda Maharaj, Secretary of Vidyalaya in the presence of Swami Garishthananda Maharaj, Secretary of the college and Dr K Kandappan, Dean of Student Support Services  of  the College.  Dr R Sridhar briefed about the activities of Unaided Wing. Some of the Alumni shared their experiences. All alumni participated in the sports events conducted by the college.

 

• Curriculum Development Cell has organised a Special meeting on “Question Setting” on 16.09.2016 at Mini Auditorium.  Dr. A. Chandramohan, HOD of Chemistry, Dr. K. Nagaraju, HOD of Social Work and Dr. V. Neelakandan, Associate Professor of English served as resource persons. More than 100 faculty members of both aided and unaided attended the meeting.

• Weekly Common Prayer meeting was conducted for I & II UG students on 21.09.2016 at GKD Auditorium.  Mr.M.Vivekprabu, Associate Professor of Mathematics, Kongunadu Arts and Science College, Coimbatore  delivered a lecture on Latchiya Siragugal Viriyattum.

• Dr. K. Balachandran, Professor and Head, Department of Mathematics (Retd.) delivered Lecture for I and II PG students of Mathematics on 22.09.2016 as a visiting faculty.
• Literary Club of our College organized meetings on 08.09.2016 and 29.09.2016 are as follows;

  i) Mrs. Latha Kumarasamy, Correspondent, Pioneer School, Nagerkoil delivered a talk on “Introduction to Tantra” 08.09.2016.

ii) Dr. R. Gokul, Assistant Professor of Tamil delivered  a talk on “Nattuppura Kathaigalil Arjunan”, on 29.09.2016.

• English Literary Association meeting was conducted on 02.09.2016. Dr.S.Srihari, Assistant Professor, Department of Communication and Media Studies, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore delivered special lecture on “Social Media in Education; changes and influences”. Nearly 95 students benefited out of it.
• As a part of Teachers Day Celebrations, Research and Faculty Enrichment Council of our College organised a Special Lecture on 06.09.2016 at Mini Auditorium. Dr. M. Gururajan, HOD and Associate Professor (Retd.), Department of Statistics, Madras Christian College, Chennai delivered a talk on “Ethics and Duties Embedded in Teaching Profession”. He imparted the teachers of their qualities, duties and responsibility with the guidance offered by Lord Sri Krishna in Mahabharata. More than 100 faculty members of both aided and unaided attended the meeting.

• Weekly prayer meetings were conducted for UG, PG and DDU-KAUSHAL Kendra students at GKD Auditorium to mould the character and personality of the students on 07.09.2016, 21.09.2016 and 28.09.2016 respectively.

i) Sri L.Kanagasubramaniyam, Correspondent, Senthamizh Arakattalai, Coimbatore delivered a talk on “How to Prevent Accidents on Roads?”.

ii) Dr. K.G. Uma Shankar, Director, Avinashilingam Jan Shikshan Sansthan, Coimbatore delivered a talk on “Needs for Today’s Youngsters” on 28.09.2016.

• Students’ Union council meeting was held on 09.09.2016. Principal, senior staff members, students union Chairman, Secretary and class representatives participated in the meeting.

• K. Balachandran, Professor and Head, Department of Mathematics (Retd.), Bharathiar University, Coimbatore delivered Lecture for I and II PG students of Mathematics on 22.09.2016 as a visiting faculty.
• The Inaugural function of One Month Skill Development Training Programme on “Four Wheeler Driving and Basic Mechanism for Transgender” which was jointly organized by Department of Social Work and National Institute of Social Defence, Ministry of Empowerment and Social Justice, New Delhi was held on 27.09.2016.

• The Department of Mathematics organized “Faculty Exchange Programme” with Sri Kaliswari College, Sivakasi. A Certificate Course on “Mathematics for Competitive Examinations” for I Year M.Sc Mathematics students was conducted by Mr. N. Ganeshkumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, Sri Kaliswari College under this programme from 26.09.2016 to 28.09.2016.
• The Department of Chemistry organized “Faculty Exchange Programme” with Sri Kaliswari College, Sivakasi. Sri P. Kaleeswaran, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, Sri Kaliswari College Participated and engaged the classes for II M.Sc Chemistry students under this programme from 26.09.2016 to 28.09.2016.

• The Literary Club of our College organizes a talk on Important National and International events of the days to create awareness among the students. In this connection,

i)  Sri. R. Srinivas, I B.Sc Mathematics (Aided wing) delivered a talk in the Morning Prayer on “The life history of Bhagat Singh” on 28.09.2016.

ii) S. Rajkumar, III B.Sc Chemistry delivered a talk in the Morning Prayer on “The Life history of Subramaniam Siva” on 04.09.2016.

iii) Sri. Vetrikumar, I B.A. English Literature delivered a talk in the Morning Prayer on “The Life history of Vallalar” on 05.09.2016.

• The Departments of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Electronics, Computer Science and English jointly organized an Exhibition, MIRSCI with the theme of MIRACLE SCIENCE on 06.10.2016 and 07.10.2016 for creating interest in the basics of science among school students. The exhibition was inaugurated by Swami Punyavratananda, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya on 06.10.2016. More than 1350 students from twelve schools from the Coimbatore district visited the exhibition and benefited. Three Exhibits from each department were selected for awarding the first, second and third prizes respectively.

• Gurupuja Literary Competitions – 2017 was inaugurated by Swami Harivratananda Maharaj on 5^th Oct 2016. 70 students participated at College level competitions on 5^th Oct 2016 and 420 students participated at school level competitions on 6^th and 7^th Oct 2016.

• Sri. S. Madhankumar, Ph.D Research Scholar, Department of Chemistry delivered a talk on “The life history of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam” as part of Youth Awakening Day Celebrations in the Morning Prayer on 15.10.2016.

• Swami Garishthananda, Secretary of our College, Dr. R. Sridhar, Director, Unaided wing and Dr. K. Kandappan, Dean, Students Support Services visited three colleges in southern districts of Tamilnadu on 14.10.2016 & 15.10.2016 for signing collaboration for Knowledge Exchange Programmes. • Sri Jagadeesh, Web Developer of Madura Travel Service Pvt Ltd, Chennai, delivered a talk on “E-Learning Skills, Advantage of Open Source Languages” for II and III BCA students on 14 Oct 2016.

• An Inter Departmental Exchange Programme was conducted on 14.10.2016 by the Department of Physics for I B.Sc Chemistry students. Physics and Chemistry related concepts and experiments were demonstrated and explained. A total of 35 students participated in the programme and benefited.
• Ten faculty members from Kamaraj College, Tuticorin visited our College and discussed on Knowledge Sharing Programme and received consultation about the governance of autonomy for their college with Secretary, Principal, IQAC Coordinator, Controller of Examinations and Office superintendent of our College on 20.10.2016.

• The Passport camp was conducted on 19.10.2016 at G.K.D. Auditorium in two batches. Nearly 1000 students from our College participated and clarified their queries regarding passport related issues. Mr. N. Kumar, Senior Superintendent, passport Seva Kendra, Coimbatore Region &  Ms. Uma Murali Citizen Service Manager, CTS Pvt Ltd were the members from Passport Seva Kendra, Coimbatore.

• Remedial Coaching Class in Mathematics has been planned to conduct for academically weaker section in XI students of Govt. Higher  Secondary School, Naickenpalayam by the department of Mathematics, as a part of Academic Extension Activity. The Programme has been inaugurated by Swami Garishthananda, Secretary of our College on 19.10.2016. The faculty members of Mathematics and faculty members of the school presented in the inaugural function.

• The Department of Computer Science conducted an Association Meeting on 20.10.2016. Dr. K. Nagaraju, HOD of Social Work delivered a talk on “Data Analysis”. Research Scholars and staff members attended the meeting.

• Dr. Rajapandian Varatharaj joined the Department of Chemistry as Inspire Faculty under the Scheme “Department of Science and Technology (DST) Sponsored Inspire Faculty award” on 01.11.2016.
• Governing Body and College Committee meetings were held on 11.11.2016 at 3.30 pm and 4.00 pm respectively.
• Science & Engineering Research Board (SERB) (A statutory body under the Government of India’s Department of Science & Technology) sanctioned Rs. 75,000/- to conduct International Conference on “Renewable Energy and Environment” in the department of Physics.
• University Grants Commission, Hyderabad has approved Financial assistance of Rs. 2,00,000/-to conduct International Conference Entitled “Cooperative Enterprises for a sustainable – Growth and Employment by the Management” in the department of Cooperation.
• World Commerce Day was celebrated on 10 Nov 2016 at GKD Auditorium in the presence of commerce students of Swami Shivananda Higher Secondary School. CA.N.N.Shanmugavadivel, Chairman of  ICAI,  Coimbatore chapter welcomed the gathering, Swami Nirmaleshananda Maharaj, Secretary of Swami Shivananda Higher Secondary School blessed the occasion, Dr.R.Sridhar, Director (Unaided wing) delivered a short talk on the importance of commerce day and CA.Gopinath  Ex-Chairman of  ICAI,Coimbatore chapter delivered a talk on “Career Opportunities to Become a Chartered Accountant and Job Opportunities in the field of Commerce”. The session came to an end with vote of thanks delivered by   M.Periyasamy, Assistant Head Master of Swami Shivananda Higher Secondary School.

• Our College offered a Certificate Course on “Instrumentation Techniques” under Students Exchange Programme from 25.11.2016 to 27.11.2016 to the III B. Sc. Chemistry Students of Kamaraj College, Tuticorin. A total of 32 (18 Boys and 14 Girls) students and one faculty member participated and successfully completed the course. The course comprises of both theoretical and practical training on UV- Visible, FT-IR, Florescence Spectrometers, Magnetic Moment determination, Conductivity and Photo reactor.

• The second batch of the above certificate course are being conducted for 21 PG students and one faculty member of Sri Kaliswari College, Sivakasi from 28.11.2016 to 30.11.2016.

• The third batch of the Certificate Course on “Instrumentation Techniques” under Students Exchange Programme was conducted for 21 PG students and one faculty member of Sri Kaliswari College, Sivakasi from 01.12.2016 to 03.12.2016.

 

• The Department of Physics organized an International Conference on “Renewable Energy and Environment” with the financial support from Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB, DST) on 15 &16^th December 2016. The Conference was inaugurated by Prof. K.P. Vijayakumar, Department of Physics, Cochin University, Cochin. Swami Anapekshananda, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya presided over the function. Prof. Ken Yoshikawa, Okayama University, Japan, Prof. Ryuichi Tachibana, Department of Forest Science, Tokyo University of Agriculture Japan, Prof. Atsushi Nakashima, Wakayama University, Japan, Prof. R. Radhakrishnan Sumathi, Materials Science and Applied Crystallography Institute, Ludwing-Maximilians University, Germany delivered Lectures on different topics. Prof. Sangeetha Sinha, Department of Physics, Dr. Ambedkar University, Bihar, Prof. S. Arumugam, Gandhigram Rural University and Mr. P. Amarnath, Tamilnadu Energy Solution Pvt. Ltd, Coimbatore delivered Lectures on “Renewable Energy Resources”.

 

• The Book of Abstract was released by Swami Garishthananda, Secretary of our college. The valedictory address was delivered by Prof. Atsushi Nakashima, Wakayama University, Japan.  In the conference 170 delegates from Indian and Foreign Universities and also from various colleges participated and presented research papers.

 

• The Passing Board meeting for November 2016 odd semester examinations was held on 20.12.2016.
• The college was closed for Bharathiar University central valuation from 14.12.2016 and reopened on 19.12.2016.
• In connection with our Nation’s move towards Cashless Economy, ‘Vittiya Saksharta Abhiyan’ (Finance Literacy Programme) (VISAKA) has been launched by Ministry of Human Resource Development, New Delhi. As a part of this programme, arrangements have been made on 20.12.2016 to register our students and faculty members as volunteers at MHRD website to encourage and motivate all payers and payees to use a digitally enabled cashless economic system for transfer of funds.

• The Literary Club of our College organizes declamation for students at Morning Prayer on Important National and International events of the days to create awareness among the students about the important events of the days. In this connection Sri V. Yuvarajvel, I B.Sc Mathematics, delivered a talk on “The life history of Mathematician SRINIVASA RAMANUJAN” on 22.12.2016.

 

• The Department of Computer Science conducted an Exhibition on Applications of Computers at Gurupooja Cultural and Educational Exhibition on 01.01.2017.
• Educational Exhibition on “Network Yuga” was exhibited in Cultural and Educational Exhibition  of Gurupuja 2017 on 1^st Jan 2017 by the Department of BCA. 11 experiments were displayed for public.

• All the students and staff members participated in the Guru Maharaj Utsav held on 01.01.2017.

• The inaugural function of NET/SET Coaching Class for PG students and Research Scholars in the department of Physics was held on 08.01.2017. Mrs. V. Subapriya, Assistant Professor of Physics, SNR College, Coimbatore inaugurated the programme. A total of 16 students including Research Scholars from the Department of Physics participated in the programme.

• National Youth Day was celebrated on 10.01.2017 at our Vidyalaya. A total of 400 students and 15 staff members participated in the programme.

• The Pongal festival was celebrated at our college on 10.01.2017. Swami Abhiramananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya, Swami Jitakamanandha, Adhyaksha, Ramakrishna Math, Mangalore and monastic members of our vidyalaya graced the occasion. The students participated in various events such as Rangoli Kolam, Top and Rope, Silambaattam, Karagam, Kavadiattam, Kummiattam, Cock fight, Jallikkattu, Uriyadi, Tug-of war and minor games. Heads of the Vidyalaya Institutions and retired staff members also attended the celebration.

• Our College offered a Certificate Course on “MATLAB” under Students Exchange Programme from 26.01.2017 to 28.01.2017 to the I & II M. Sc. Mathematics Students of Pioneer Kumaraswamy College, Nagercoil. A total of 32 (1 Boy and 31 Girls) students and three faculty members participated and successfully completed the course.

• A National conference on “Recent Trends in Soft Computing” was conducted by Department of Computer Studies at GKD Auditorium on 2 Feb 2017. 94 participants from 16 colleges participated in the conference. Dr C Jayabalakrishnan, Prinicipal, welcomed the gathering, Swami Garishthananda, Secretary, blessed the occasion with benediction address, Sri G Narendra, Head of Research and Training of ICT Academy of Tamilnadu, inaugurated the occasion with inaugural address on “Basics of Research”. Dr V Joseph Raj, Head and Associated Professor of Computer Science, Kamaraj College, Tuticorin, delivered a talk on “Recent Trends in Nueral Network Algorithms”.The following experts chaired the technical session

Srimati S.M. Meenatchi, Tirupur Kumaran College for Women won the best paper presentation prize. All papers were published with ISBN number.

• An intercollegiate meet was conducted on 3 Feb 2017. Dr K Kandappan, Dean of Student Support Services, welcomed the  gathering, Swami Swayamprabhananda delivered benediction address, and Sri M Balasubramaniam, Managing Director of 365 Media, delivered inaugural address. 127 students from 13 colleges participated in the events such as Paper Presentation, Word Hunt, Technical Quiz and Marketing. Dr NGP Arts and Science College, Coimbatore won over-all Championship in the Knock IT-2017. Prizes were distributed by Secretary of the college in the valedictory function.

• Vidyalaya Foundation Day was celebrated on 03.02.2017. In the Morning Prayer assembly, Swami Garishthananda, Secretary of our college delivered a talk on the origin and evolution of Vidyalaya institutions and efforts undertaken by    Ayya Dr. T.S. Avinashilingam, founder of our Vidyalaya institutions, to establish our institutions.

 

• AVAA meeting was held on 05.02.2017 at GKD Auditorium, 58 Alumni of our SRMV CAS visited our college in the afternoon and went around the campus, classrooms and laboratories. The Principal and staff members discussed with alumni about the academic and other improvement of our institution.

• Auditor H. Asif Ahamed Sheriff, Ms. Kaleem and Co, Coimbatore delivered a Special talk on “Budget – 2017 – The Gainers and The Losers” on 07.02.2017 organised by Research and Faculty Enrichment Council (RFEC). A total of 102 teaching and non teaching staff members attended the programme.

• Weekly Common Prayer was conducted on 08.02.2017 for III UG and All PG (Aided wing) students at GKD Auditorium. Dr. V. Ponnuswamy, Head of the Department of Physics of our College delivered a talk on “Manam Athu Semmaiyaanaal”.

• The Department of Tamil of our College organized an International Conference on “Devaara Thiruvasagathil Vignanamum, Meignanamum” on 11.02.2017 at G.K.D. Auditorium, in view of felicitating Dr. C. Viswanathan, Head, department of Tamil retiring this academic year. Swami Nirmaleshananda, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya presided over the conference and released the book entitled “Devaara Thiruvasagathil Vignanamum, Meignanamum”. The valedictory address was delivered by Swami Garishthananda, Secretary of our college. Dr. C. Viswanathan, Head, Department of Tamil, delivered his acceptance speech of his felicitation. A total of 225 participants have participated and 23 scholars have presented their papers on Science, Medical, Astronomy, Sociology, Yoga, Music etc.,

• Orientation Programme about “Internship Training in Auditors Office” was conducted for  III B.Com on 13 Feb 2017 . CA Nagaraj delivered a talk on “Importance of Internship” in the presence of Director and Head of B.Com and B.Com(CA). 52 students  and their parents attended the meeting . 21 auditor’s provided  internship atleast for 2 or 3 students. 52 students started their internship from 14 Feb 201 to 31 March  2017 at 21 different auditor’s office.

• Documentary film on “MUTHALVAR MAHATHMA” was screened on 14.02.2017 at GKD Auditorium. A total of 500 I, II UG students and staff members exposed to it.
• Swami Garishthananda, Secretary of our college blessed the occasion with Benediction Address. Mr. Abhijit Sreenivas, Head – Industry Interface, External Research & Academic Alliances – India ANZ & Sri Lanka and Mr. G.Saravanan , Assistant General Manager – Academic Initiatives visited our college on 15 Feb 2017. Mr Abhijit Sreenivas announced that it is  the first Arts and Science College in Tamilnadu to be recognized as a Center of Academic Excellence for Data Science and Big Data  Analytics of DELL-EMC and delivered a talk on “Importance of Data Science and Big Data” to III year students of Computer Science, Information Technology and Computer Application.

• The Department of Physics conducted a State Level Symposium on “ALBEDO’17” on 17.03.2017. Swami Garishthananda, inaugurated the function. Dr. K. Srinivasan, Professor and Head, Department of Physics, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore delivered the Keynote address. 228 students from 18 colleges and 157 students from the department participated in the programme.

• College Committee meeting was held on 18.02.2017 at 3.30 p.m.

• Our College offered a Certificate Course on “Instrumentation Techniques” under Students Exchange Programme on 25.02.2017 & 26.02.2017 to the III B. Sc. Chemistry Students of Pioneer Kumaraswamy College, Nagercoil.  A total of 28 (26 Girls and 02 Boys) students, two teaching faculty members and one non teaching staff participated and successfully completed the course. The course comprises of both theoretical and practical training on UV-Visible, FT-IR, Fluorescence Spectrometers, Magnetic Moment determination, Conductivity and Photo reactor.

2. The Board of Studies in Co-curricular activities was conducted on 02.03.2017.

3. The written examination for selecting multitasking staff for Cordite Factory, Aruvankadu under Ministry of Defence, Government of India was conducted on 05.03.2017, Sunday at our college premises (both aided and unaided wing). Around 266 students attended the examination.

4. The Department of Physics conducted an Association meeting on 04.03.2017. Er. S. Manivannan, COE, Emersion Company, Chennai delivered a motivational talk. More than100 students and staff members participated in the programme.
5. Research and Faculty Enrichment Council organized the following programmes for the benefit of staff and students at Mini Auditorium.A one day Workshop on “Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) on 28.02.2017. Dr. S. Boopathy, Professor of Economics, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore inaugurated the Workshop and delivered a lecture cum demonstration using SPSS Software. More than 100 M.Com Cooperation, MSW, M.Sc Mathematics students and faculty members attended and benefited.

• A Health Awareness Programme on 02.03.2017. Dr. B.R.J. Satheesh Kumar, Managing Director, B.R.J. Ortho Centre and MAK Hospital, Coimbatore delivered a talk on “Preventive Measures for Bone- Joint Pains and Osteoporosis”. A total of 80 Faculty Members and Research Scholars of our College attended the programme and benefited.

• Curriculum Development Cell (CDC) of our college organized one day Seminar on “Value Education” as a part of student enrichment programme of GKD Auditorium for  I year UG students on 02.03.2017. Swami Garishthananda presided over the function.

A total of 100 I, II M.Com Cooperative Management, III B.Com Cooperation students and staff members attended the meeting.

• CIA Test II for UG and PG programmes was conducted from 06.03.2017 to 10.03.2017.

• Weekly Common Prayer was conducted for I and II year UG students (Aided wing) and II year B.Voc (DDU- KAUSHAL Kendra) students on 15.03.2017 at GKD Auditorium. Swami Harivrathananda, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya delivered a talk on “Success through Self-confidence”.

• Boomi Pooja function for constructing multipurpose gymnasium was held 17.02.2017 at 8.00 a.m. in our college ground Rev. Swami Abhiramanandaji, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya inaugurated the Pooja and laid the foundation stone. All monastics of Vidyalaya graced the occasion. Head of the institutions of vidyalaya and staff members attended the function. For constructing this gymnasium UGC has sanctioned 1 crore under the scheme “Development of Sports Infrastructure & Equipment during XII Plan period and released the second installment of Rs. 35,50,000/-.
• Weekly Common Prayer was conducted for I and II year UG students (Aided wing) and II year B.Voc (DDU- KAUSHAL Kendra) students on 22.03.2017 at GKD Auditorium. R. Thangavel, Head, Department of Electronics of our College delivered a talk on “Lessons of Moral Values in the Mahabaratha”.

• Graduation Day Ceremony was held on 28.03.2017 at Venkatakrishna Indoor Stadium. Swami Abhiramanandaji Maharaj, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya delivered presidential address.

Prof. E. Balagurusamy (Former Vice-Chancellor, Anna University, Chennai), Chairman, EBG Foundation, Coimbatore & President, Coimbatore Academy of Sciences presented the Graduation Day ceremony address.

A total of 648 students graduated in this academic year 2016-17.

• As a part of Literary club programme Sri B. Udhaysankar, III B. Sc Mathematics delivered a talk on “Execution of the Hanging of Baghat Singh, Rajaguru and Sukdev” in the Morning Prayer assembly on 23.03.2017.

• The Department of Social Work conducted a Professional Association meeting on 31.03.2017. Sri M. Sachithanandam, Training Consultant, District Child Protection Unit, Coimbatore delivered a special address on “Role of Social Worker in Child Rights and Child Protection”. More than 100 students and staff members participated in the programme.

• The Department of Mathematics conducted a Srinivasa Ramanujan Mathematics Association meeting on 31.03.2017. Prof. B. Murali, HOD of Computer Science, PSG College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore delivered a lecture on “Mathematics in Computer Applications”. A total of 120 III B.Sc, I & II M.Sc Students, Research scholars and staff members attended the meeting.

• The Department of English organized two days programme named “The House of Thespians and Avon Fest” on 11.04.2017 and 12.04.2017 respectively. The Programme comprised of two events, on stage events like poem recitation, mime, just a minute, quiz, etc and off stage events such as Essay writing, story writing, etc. A total of 120 I, II and III UG English Literature students participated in the programme.

• The Department of Chemistry arranged one day Industrial Visit on 29.03.2017.  A total of 19 M.Sc students along with 8 faculty members visited UPASI Tea Research Institute, Valparai. During the visit, students gained knowledge on chemistry background of tea research.

• The Department of Mathematics conducted a Srinivasa Ramanujan Mathematics Association meeting on 12.04.2017. Dr. G. Sai Sundara Krishnan, Associate Professor, Department of Mathematical and Computational Sciences, PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore delivered a lecture on “Mathematical Modeling”. A total of 120 III B.Sc, I & II M.Sc Students, Research scholars and staff members attended the meeting.

• College Day Celebrations was held on 18.04.2017. Swami Bhaktikamananda Maharaj, Adhyaksha, Ramakrishna Math, Coimbatore delivered Presidential address, released College Magazine and distributed prizes to students. Prof. Dr. K Muthuchelian, Former Vice-Chancellor, Periyar University, Salem, Head and Chairperson, School of Energy Environment and Natural Resources, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai delivered College Day address. Dr. C. Jayabalakrishnan, Principal presented the Annual Report of our college. As a part of the Celebrations, Maveeran Uttam Sing – Drama and Kaviarangam were performed by our students. Kavithayini M. Uma Maheswari, LIC of India, Coimbatore presided over the Kaviyarangam entitled “Unnai Arindhal….” More than 1500 students from both aided and unaided attended the function.

• Model Examinations for UG & PG Programmes commenced on 20.04.2017 and comes to an end on 27.04.2017.
• An Inspection Committee from Bharathiar University visited our college on 20.04.2017 for granting permission for starting new programmes viz., B.Com Professional Accounting and PG Diploma in Computer Applications in the academic year 2017-18.

• Research and Faculty Enrichment Council organized two day Faculty Development Programme on “Open Source Operation System and Applications” on 13^th and 14^th June 2016. Dr. R. Sridhar gave brief introduction about the need of this programme. Demonstration and hands on training on the Open Source Operating System and Libre Office were given by Mr. G. Dinesh and Mr. S.P. Muthuraja of our college. A total of eighty faculty members from FDMSE, College of Education and our college participated in the first day programme.

• The second day programme was organized only for Computer Science faculty members of our college. In the morning session Mr. G. Dinesh and Mr. S.P. Muthuraja briefly explained about the difference between Windows Operating System, Linux and other important relevant topics. In the afternoon session Mr. Ananda Prabhu, CEO Yaana Technologies, Coimbatore delivered a talk on “Internet of things in open source”. • The Department of Physics conducted an Association Meeting on 19.06.2016. Dr. C.S. Narayanamoorthy, Professor and Head, Department of Physics, Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IISST), Kerala delivered a special address on “Scope of Physics”. A total of 50 students from  III B.Sc Physics and   II M.Sc Physics students attended the meeting.

• A total of 150 II & III year UG students participated in the International Yoga Day celebration held at Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Maruthi College of Physical Education on 21.06.2016.
• The Department of Physics organized a “Science Forum” meeting on 23.06.2016. Dr. Shanmugamurthy Lakshmanan, Vice Chancellor, Vetha Centre for Transdisciplinary Studies, New Jersey Institute of Technology, Newjersey, USA, an alumnus of our institution, delivered a talk on “Ancient Science and Technology”. More than 100 PG students, Research Scholars from Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics attended the meeting.
• Swami Tatprabhananda Maharaj, Secretary of Vidyalaya High School and Asst. Administrative Head of FAR of Vivekananda University delivered a talk on “Traditions and Spirituality” for B.Sc(CS) students on 23 June 2016.

• Board of Studies of B.Com and B.Com(CA) were conducted on 24 June 2016 for the  purpose of Extra Credit Course and Internship programme for students.
• Our College conducted a meeting to create awareness on Waste Management among the students on 29.06.2016 at Mini Auditorium. Dr. R. Thangavel, HOD of Electronics delivered a talk on “E-Waste Management”. A total 120 first year UG students attended the meeting.

• Weekly prayer meeting was conducted for III year UG, I and II year PG students on 13.07.2016 at G.K.D. Auditorium. Swami Nirmaleshananda blessed the gathering and delivered a talk on “Avatharathin Nokkam”.
• The Department of Cooperation conducted an Association Meeting on 20.07.2016. Mr.V. Vasanthakumar, Assistant Manager, Lakshmi Machine Works, Periyanaickenpalayam, Coimbatore delivered a special address on “Recent Trends in Logistics Management”. A total of 80 students from III B.Com Cooperation, M.Com Cooperation and staff members attended the meeting.

• The Department of Cooperation organized a visiting faculty programme  for the III Year B.Com Cooperation and I, II M.Com Cooperative Management students on 10.02.2017. Prof. B. Javaran, Professor, Department of Cooperation (Retd.), D.B. Jain College, Dhoraipakkam, Chennai served as a visiting faculty.

• Remedial Coaching Classes in English, Mathematics and Science have been planned to conduct for academically weaker section in VI, VII & VIII students of TAT Kalanilayam. The Programme has been inaugurated and blessed by Swami Nirmaleshananda on 28.06.2016. The Principal, HoDs of English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and subject coaches attended the programme.
• 50 students of III year B.Com with 5 faculty members visited NLC Tamilnadu Power Ltd on 23 July 2016.

• Sri M Jaikumar, Head of BCA, Sri N Kamaraj, Head of IT, Sri S Muthukumar, Asst Professor of Computer Science, conducted classes on “Awareness on Cyber Security” as a part of Academic Extension Activities for 123 students of XI and XII of Karamadai Government Higher Secondary school and for 96 students of XI and XII of Duraisamy Gowder Higher Secondary School, Seliyur on 27 Jan 2017.

• 11 NCC cadets attended a Republic day selection camp at Karpagam University, Coimbatore from 09.07.2016 to 18.07.2016.
• Cadet Ram Prakash, II B.A. English Literature attended a Basic Leadership camp at Karpagam University, Coimbatore from 09.07.2016 to 18.07.2016.
• Cadets R. Premkumar, K.P. Sri Krishnan and M. Saravanamoorthy, NCC Cadets undertook a consultancy service at Dr. R.V. Arts and Science College, Karamadai. They made arrangements for flag hoisting ceremony during the 70^th Independence Day Celebration at the College on 15.08.2016.
• 47 NCC Cadets are attending the RD selection camp and CAT Camp at Thiyagi N.G. Ramaswamy Memorial Higher Secondary School, Coimbatore from 20.08.2016.

• L/CPL D. Ramprakash, III B.A English Literature bagged the medal for the “Best Cadet of Tamil Nadu Diectorate”.
• Cadet U.K. Karikalan of II,BSc Computer Science  has been selected for the Republic Day Parade to be held in Delhi on 20.01.2017.
• Twenty three II year NCC cadets underwent weapon training at 4 (TN) Battalion, Coimbatore on 09.02.2017.
• 15 NCC Cadets participated in the drill competition at SNS College of Technology, Coimbatore on 07.03.2017 organised in connection with the NCC Celebrations. Our cadets bagged the second prize in the competition.
• Lt.Dr. V. Neelakandan, NCC Officer acted as a judge for the NCC Day function organized by SNS College of Technology, Coimbatore on 07.03.2017.
• 30 NCC Cadets took the certificate ‘C’ examination at PSG College of Techonology, Coimbatore on 26.03.2017.
• NCC unit of our college organized one day Seminar on “The Ways of Joining the Armed Forces” on 18.04.2017 at 3.00 pm. Swami Garishthananda blessed the gathering. Lt.Col. R. Senthil Kumar, Off. Commanding Officer, 4(TN) BN NCC delivered a presidential Address. Col. M. Peter Celestine, Sena Medial Group Commander, NCC Group Coimbatore delivered a Chief Guest Address. 90 NCC Cadets participated in the Seminar.

NSS Activities

• NSS Unit and Periyanaickenpalayam Town Panchayat jointly organized a Rally on Plastic Eradication Awareness Campaign on 29.06.2016 at 11.00 am in periyanaickenpalayam. The programme was inaugurated by Sri Chandran, President in-charge, Periyanaickenpalayam panchayat.  A total of 125 members including 65 NSS volunteers and 4 NSS programme officers participated in this campaign.

• After completing the rally programme, cleaning activity was started to clean the Government Hospital Campus and Road sides from Government Hospital to Railway Station, Periyanaickenpalayam. In this cleaning work, 60 NSS volunteers, 4 NSS programme officers and 25 sanitary workers were involved.

• NSS Unit of our college organized an Orientation Programme on 14.07.2016 at GKD Auditorium for the newly enrolled NSS Volunteers. Dr. R. Baskar, NSS Programme Coordinator i/c, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore delivered a special address on “Features of NSS”. A total of 300 NSS volunteers and 4 NSS Programme Officers participated in this programme.

• NSS Unit organized a Mountain Trekking and Cleaning programme at Palamalai Hills on 30.07.2016. The students have cleaned the Palamalai Temple, removed the plastic bags and spread the awareness among the public about the evils of using plastic bags.

• The NSS Unit organized the Swach Bharath Campaign Programme on 12.08.2016 at Lord Chokkalingeswar Temple, Periyanaickenpalayam.  Dr.C. Jayabalakrishnan, Principal, Dr. K. Kandappan, Dean, Students Support Services and our NSS Programme officers, Dr. R. Mayilsamy, Sri K. Thirumalaiswamy, Dr. C. Mahendran and Dr. R. Anand participated in the Campaign. A group of 60 NSS volunteers cleaned the bushes and also planted saplings in and around the temple area. On the same day, another group of 25 NSS volunteers actively participated and cleaned the bushes and on the road side of Samayan Nagar, Periyanaickenpalayam Panchayat. The temple authorities and the public appreciated the service of our students.

• The NSS Unit arranged a special programme on 19.08.2016 at GKD Auditorium. Dr. N. Markandan, Former Vice Chancellor, Gandhigram University delivered the Special talk on “Indian Freedom Movement”. Dr.C.Jayabalakrishnan, Principal. Dr.K.Kandappan, Dean, Students Support Services, Faculty members and NSS Programme officers attended the meeting. A total of 380 students participated in the programme.

• The NSS Unit organized the Swacch Bharath Campaign Programme on 18.08.2016 at Vidyalaya Institution Campus. A group of 30 NSS volunteers cleaned the bushes in and around of Sports School Hostel Campus.

• The NSS Unit and the Coimbatore Eye Foundation jointly organized an Eye Vision Screening Camp on 18.08.2016, at Mini-Auditorium of our College and on 19.08.2016 at Multi Purpose Hall (unaided wing). Totally 1123 UG (I, II, and III years) students of aided and unaided wing benefited in the camp.

• Celebration of Tamil Matham Purattachi Sanikkilamai is observed in Anumandharaya Swami (Anjaneyar Koil) Temple, Idugampalayam, Mettupalayam Taluk for five days on 17.09.2016, 24.09.2016, 01.10.2016, 08.10.2016 and 15.10.2016. Twenty Seven NSS volunteers and One NSS Programme Officer involved in the activities on 17.09.2016 like crowd control, Annadhanam serving and parking control as part of their community service.

•  NSS Unit of our college organized One day Cleaning Camp at Joint Director of Collegiate Education campus in Coimbatore on 01.10.2016. Dr. R. Mayilsamy, NSS Programme Officer and 25 NSS Volunteers of II B.Com CA (A&B) participated in the camp, students cleaned the bushes and weeds inside the campus.

• Swacch Bharath activity (Cleaning Camp) was carried out in view of observing Gandhi Jayanthi on 03.10.2016 instead of 02.10.2016. The activity held at Police Station Campus, Periyanaickenpalayam. In this cleaning camp, 101 NSS Volunteers and 3 NSS Programme Officers have participated. The NSS volunteers cleaned the bushes, grasses and plastic bags in the campus. Srimat Swami Suviranandaji Maharaj, Assistant General Secretary, Ramakrishna Math & Mission, Belur Math observed the cleaning work and appreciated.

• The Orientation meeting for Gurupooja Rice Collection for I year UG NSS volunteers was conducted on 21.12.2016 at GKD Auditorium. With blessings of Swami Garishthananda, Secretary of our college the meeting was convened. Dr. C. Jayabalakrishnan, Principal presided over the meeting, Sri. K. Sathishkumar, Principal, Gandhi Teacher Training Institute discussed about the method and norms to be followed during the rice collection. Dr. K. Kandappan, Dr. R. Sridhar, NSS Programme Officers, staff and NSS volunteers participated in the programme.

 

• The Inaugural function for Gurupooja Rice Collection was held on 22.12.2016 at Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya College of Education Hostel. Swami Nirmaleshananda and Swami Harivaratananda blessed the students and inaugurated the programme.

 

• The Rice Collection for Gurupooja was taken up for four days from 22.12.2016 to 25.12.2016. A total of 550 NSS volunteers, 32 staff members from aided and unaided wing, 4 NSS Programme Officers, Dean of Students Support Service of our college, were involved in the Rice Collection activity. They have covered the stretch of Kavundampalayam to Mettupalayam on the main road and nearby villages as well. They have also covered the places like Sirumugai, Alangkombu, Bethikuttai. They have collected a sum of Rs.2,49,410 (Rupees Two lakh forty nine thousand four hundred and ten only) and 40 bags (75kg) of rice.

• The National Service Scheme of our college organized Swacch Bharath Campaign programme on 29.12.2016 and 30.12.2016 at Lord Chokkalingeswar Temple, Periyanaickenpalayam. Dr. K. Kandappan, Dean, Students Support Services and NSS Programme Officers Sri K. Thirumalaiswamy, Dr. R. Myilswamy and Dr. R. Anand participated in the campaign. Totally 52 NSS volunteers cleaned the bushes and grasses in the temple garden as well as surroundings of the temple.

• Sri Anjaneyar Jayanthi has been celebrated at Anumandaraya Temple (Anjaneyar Koil), Idugampalayam, Karamadai on 28.12.2016. A total of 20 NSS Volunteers involved in Annadanam Serving, Crowd Control and to regulate vehicle parking as a part of their community service.

• The NSS Special Camp on Healthy Youth for Healthy India was held from 17.02.2017 to 23.02.2017 at Jadayampalayam Panchayat. The Inauguration was held on 17.02.2017 at 5.30 p.m. Swami Garishthananda, Secretary of our college delivered benedictory address. Dr. C. Jayabalakrishnan, Principal, Dr. K. Kandappan, Dean, Students Support Services, Dr. R. Sridhar, Director, Unaided wing and faculty members participated in the Inaugural function.

• On 18.02.2017 Mr.S. Rajkumar, Joint General Manager, NHDC Limited, Coimbatore explained the importance of Cashless transaction particularly mobile banking, Net banking etc. On the third day of the camp, 19.02.2017 preventive measures of Tuberculosis (TB) awareness rally was conducted at Alangombu area. In the evening,  Dr. P.Thirunavukkarasu, Associate Professor of Electronics delivered a speech on “Values of Life”.During the fourth day, 20.02.2017 Veterinary Camp was conducted in the Kalanur Village between 7.30 am and 12 noon. Dr. R. Satheesh, Government Veterinary Hospital, Karamadai and his team gave treatment to 63 cows and a dog.

• In the evening, the retiring staff members Dr. C. Jayabalakrishnan, Principal, Dr. G. Amirthaganesan, Associate Professor of Chemistry, Dr.C.Viswanathan, HOD of Tamil and Dr. K. Nagaraju, HOD of Social Work were honoured in the camp by Swami Abhiramanandaji Maharaj, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya.

• On the same day, A special debate with students participation was conducted on the topic “Minnanu Sadanangal Indraya Ilaignargalin Vaazhvai Membaduthugiratha? Seerazhikinratha?”.  Dr. C. Viswanathan, HOD of Tamil served as moderator.

• On 21.02.2017, Dr. Parimala, Swami Chidbhavananda Rural Health Centre with her team visited the camp and offered free medical checkup for general public. 37 women and 23 men were benefited.
• On 22.02.2017 morning, Rangoli competition was conducted at SIV and Veerasamy Colony. A total of 31 women participation in the competition. In the evening voters awareness rally was conducted by 200 NSS volunteers. On the same day Mrs. Geetha, Lawyer cum social activist inspired the awareness on prevention of water pollution in Bhavani river. Dr.V.Ponnusamy, HOD of Physics delivered a lecture on “Natural Management”.

• The valedictory function of NSS special camp was held on 23.02.2017. Dr.C.Jayabalakrishnan, Principal delivered a special address. Mr. R.K. Palanisamy, Ex Vice President, Jadayampalayam Panchayat Union and Dr.R.Baskar, Coordinator, Bharathiar University were the chief guest of the function. Dr.K.Kandappan, Dean, Students Support Services and staff members participated in the function.

A total of 251 NSS volunteers, I & II year MSW students and five NSS Programm Officers attended the camp. During the camp our staff members (both teaching and non teaching), alumni visited the camp and encouraged the students.

• NSS Unit of our College organized a programme on “Personality Development through Community services” on 16.03.2017 at Mini Auditorium. Dr. K.Kandappan, Dean, Students Support Services delivered a talk on “Personality Development through Community services” in which he explained the history, motto, regular activities and special camping activities of National Service Scheme which develop the personality of volunteers. NSS programme officers and nearly 150 NSS volunteers participated in the programme.

• Mahasivarathri was celebrated in Chockalingeswar Temple, Periyanaickenpalayam on 25.03.2017. 15 NSS Volunteers involved in the activities like Prasatham serving, Crowd control and guidance and helped to regulate vehicle parking as part of their community service.

Youth Red Cross (YRC)

• Youth Red Cross (YRC) unit of our college organized Blood Identification Camp in collaboration with Lakshmi Clinic Laboratory, Periyanaickenpalayam on 12.07.2016 for first year UG students and on 19.07.2016 for first year PG students held at Mini Auditorium. A total of 645 students were benefited.

• Youth Red Cross (YRC) club of our college jointly organized a Blood Donation camp in collaboration with Shanthi Social Service, Coimbatore on 09.08.2016 at our unaided wing. A total of 108 unaided wing students donated their blood.

• NSS Unit and Youth Red Cross (YRC) unit of our college jointly organized Blood Donation Camp in collaboration with Government Hospital, Mettupalayam on 30.03.2017 held at Mini Auditorium. A total of  67 students donated their blood.

Non-Academic

• 20 students of BCA with 3 faculty members and 10 Home Gaurds of Coimbatore participated in removing plastic bags and bottles in Kotagiri Road, Mettupalayam and Cleaning Water tanks and surrounding places of General Hospital of Mettupalayam on 25 and 26 June 2016.

• 12 students of B.Com(CA) and a faculty member participated in Swach Bharath activity at Police Quarters, Mettupalayam on 23 July 2016.

• The Department of Social Work conducted a Survey at Gethaikadu, Manar, Korappathy and Pillur Dam tribal hamlets on 24.07.2016 in order to find out the feasibility to organize Mobile Medical Unit with the support of Dr. N. Ramanan, Homeopathy Consultant, Coimbatore.

• The Department of Social Work conducted the distribution programme of  “Free New Clothes” under Ramakrishna Math/Mission’s “Disaster Relief Work” through Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya, Coimbatore supported by ITC Limited on 31.07.2016 at Prabhu Nagar, Coimbatore. Swami Garishthananda, Secretary of our College distributed the clothes and 200 deserving people were benefited.

 

• The Department of Social Work conducted the distribution programme of “Free Note Books” to Tribal schools students at Gopanari Tirbal Hamlet sponsored by Dr. P. Velusamy, Assistant Professor of Cooperation on 05.08.2016. Dr. K. Kandappan and faculty members attended the programme and 20 people were benefited.

• The Department of Social Work conducted the distribution programme of “Free New Clothes” under Ramakrishna Math/Mission’s “Disaster Relief Work” through Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya, Coimbatore supported by ITC Limited on 07.08.2016 at Pudhupudhur, Devaiyamapalayam and Vivekananthapuram, Coimbatore. Swami Alokeshananda distributed the clothes and 300 people were benefited.

• The Department of Social Work celebrated Independence Day at Chinna Devayampalayam. Sports competition was conducted for children & public on 14.08.2016 and also screening short films to make them aware of their social responsibility in Independent India. President, Devayampalayam Panchayat hoisted National Flag on 15.08.2016 and distributed prizes to the winners in the sports competition. More than 150 people participated in the programme.

 

• Sri M Jaikumar, Head of BCA, lead a team of Home Guards of Coimbatore District for Parade in the presence of Sri T.N Hariharan IAS, District Collector of Coimbatore on 15 Aug 2016 at VoC Ground, Coimbatore.

• 92 students and 3 faculty members participated in the Silent Rally for Dr APJ Abdul Kalam on his first memorial day on 27 July 2016 at Mettupalayam organized by Home Guards of Coimbatore and Mettupalayam Consumer Protection Organization.

• The PG and Research Department of cooperation conducted one day Extension activity Programme on “Role of Members for the Development of Cooperatives” at Kariyampalayam Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society at Kariyampalayam on 30.09.2016. Mr.M.ShanmugaSundram Secretary Kariyampalayam Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society welcomed the gathering. Thiru N.Kaliyappan President Kariyampalayam PACS gave presided over the meeting.

• The Department of Social Work conducted a programme on “Health and Hygiene during Menstrual Cycle” at Government Higher Secondary School, Naickenpalayam on 05.01.2017. Dr. R. Preetha, Assistant Surgeon, Gudalur Goundampalayam, delivered special address. In this programme 103 girl students were benefited.

• The Department of Social Work organized a programme on “ENT Medical Camp” at Panchayat Union Elementary School, Pudupudur on 07.01.2017. Dr. S. Vijayaraja, Government Hospital, Mettupalayam delivered special address. Dr. S. Seralatham, Chief Medical Officer and Dr. P. Jeyaraman, Chief Civil Surgeon (Dental), Government Hospital, Mettupalayam felicitated. Dr. K. Kandappan, Dean, Student Support Services and faculty members of Social Work and students attended the programme. In this programme 54 public were provided treatment and 19 among them were referred to audiogram test. All the 19 were taken to the Government Hospital, Mettupalayam for the test and benefited with hearing aid machine.

 

• The Department of Social Work and Alcoholics Anonymous, Coimbatore jointly organized a One Day Workshop on Alcoholic Ideation and Resilience held at GKD Auditorium on 24.01.2017. Dr.T. Udhayakumar, Parthiban Nursing Home, Coimbatore -29 delivered Keynote address,  Sri S. Premkumar, Director, Alcoholic Anonymous, Coimbatore explained about the ill effects of alcoholism and preventive measures to be taken for avoiding it and also shared his experience with audience. Dr. K. Nagaraju, HOD of Social Work delivered a lecture on “Addiction – Theoretical Perspectives”. A total of 300 students from III year Unaided wing UG students, MSW students and eleven staff members participated in the programme.

• Swami Garishthananda distributed Driving License and Tools Kit to Transgenders who have completed the One Month Skill Development Training Programme on “Four Wheeler Driving and Basic Mechanism for Transgender” which was jointly organized by Department of Social Work with National Institute of Social Defence, Ministry of Empowerment and Social Justice, New Delhi on 24.01.2017.

• Department of Social Work. NSS unit of our college jointly organized with Coimbatore District Adi Dravidar and Scheduled Tribe Welfare Department celebrated Humanitarism week on 26.01.2017 at Vivekandapuram, Periyanaickenpalayam. Swami Garishthananda blessed the gathering. Mr. V. Mohan, District Adi dravida and Scheduled Tribal Welfare officer delivered a special address. PRG Arunkumar, MLA, Coimbatore North and officials from Periyanaickenpalayam Panchayat Union participated as special invitees. Dr. V. Ponnuswamy, HOD of Physics delivered a special address on “Pirappokkum Ella Uirukkum”.

• Department of Social Work organized a Programme on “Significance and Training of Yoga” on 27.01.2017 at Government Higher Secondary School, Naickenpalayam. “Yoga Maharishi” Sri U. Manickam explained the significance of Yoga and trained the students on Surya Namaskar. A total of 150 students benefited.

• The Department of Social Work conducted a programme on “Diabetic and Blood Preasure Identification and Sensitization on Diet” at Gudalur Kavundampalayam on 05.02.2017. Dr. R. Parimala, GKNM Rural Health Centre, Coimbatore served as resource person. In this camp 107 public were benefited.

• The Department of Social Work organized a General Medical Camp at Gudalur Kavundampalayam on 05.02.2017. Dr. R. Parimala, GKNM Rural Health Centre, Coimbatore served as major resource for the camp. In this programme 98 public were benefited.

• The Department of Social Work organized a programme on “Anaemic Identification and Sensitization on Nutrition” at Government Higher Secondary School, Naickenpalayam on 07.02.2017. Dr. S. Thilakavathy, Assistant Professor, Department of Food Science and Nutrition, Avinashilingam University, Coimbatore delivered a special address. In this programme 100 female  students were benefited.

• The Department of Social Work conducted a training programme for public on “First Aid Methods” at Devaiyampalayam on 11.02.2017 and Pudupudur on 12.02.2017. Sri P. Vilvanathan, Lecturer in First Aid, St. John Ambulance, Coimbatore delivered a special address. In this programme 64 people were benefited.

• A Dental Camp at Government Higher Secondary School, Naickenpalayam on 21.02.2017. Dr. P. Jayaraman, MDS, Chief Civil Surgeon – Dental, Government Hospital, Mettupalayam delivered special address. In this programme 218 students were benefited. 46 students were recommended for further treatment at Government Hospital, Mettupalayam.

• An Eye Camp at Government Higher Secondary School, Naickenpalayam on 21.02.2017. Dr. S.K. Sundera Moorthy, MS, FRCS(EDin), FRCO (LON), DO(LON), Chairman, Lotus Eye Hospital and Institute, Coimbatore delivered a special address. In this programme 211 students were benefited. 84 students were identified and suggested for further treatment with concession rate at Lotus Eye Hospital, Mettupalayam.

• Dr R Abimanyu, Asst Professor of Tamil, received “ Kalvi Sevaga Kalai Viruthu-2016” from Kaviyarasar Kalai Tamil Sangam, Namakkal.
• Sri M Jaikumar, Head of  BCA, received Certificate of Excellence for “Humanitarian Services ” on 24 Jan 2017 from Rotary Club of Mettupalayam, Coimbatore.

• Sri M Jaikumar, Head of  BCA and Company Commander in Tamilnadu Home Guards led Coimbatore District Home Guards Contingent during Republic Day Parade 2017 at VOC ground , Coimbatore, in the presence of Coimbatore District Collector N Hariharan IAS on 26 Jan 2017.

• 20 students of BCA, participated in the Swacch Bharath campaign as part of non-academic extension activity  organized by Home Guards of Coimbatore under the leadership of Sri M Jaikumar, Head of BCA and Company commander of Home Guards. Plastic bags, Nails from the tree and Bottles were removed from Mettupalayam  Forest Check post to Kothagiri first hair pin bend on 4 Feb 2017.

• The Department of Social Work conducted a Cancer Awareness Camp for public at G. Goundampalayam on 02.03.2017. Dr. R. Parimala, GKNM Rural Health Centre, Coimbatore served as resource person. In this camp 97 public were benefited.

• The Department of Social Work conducted on “Nutrition Awareness Programme” for public at Naickanur on 09.03.2017. Dr. S. Thilakavathy, Assistant Professor, Department of Food Science and Nutrition, Avinashilingam University, Coimbatore acted as a resource person. In this programme 112 public were benefited.

• The Department of Social Work conducted a programme on “Anti-Natal, Post-Natal and Child Health” at Chinna Devaiyampalayam on 13.03.2017. Dr. R. Preetha, Assistant Surgeon, Gudalur Goundampalayam, acted as a resource person. In this programme 20 women were benefited.

• Mr. K.R. Maiyelvaganan and Mr. M. Mohan of II M.Sc Chemistry were awarded the post graduate merit scholarship for University Rank Holders for the year 2015-16 by University Grants Commission, New Delhi. They have been awarded a scholarship amount of Rs. 3100/- per month for two years.
• Ragul, II M.Sc Mathematics has participated in the summer training programme in Mathematics conducted by the Ramanujan Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics, University of Madras during 23.05.2016 to 11.06.2016.
• 70 out of 70 students of Commerce passed certificate examination on “Retail Associates” conducted by National Skill Development Corporation through Retail Sector Skill Council under Pradhana Mandri Kaushal Vikas Yojna (PMKVY). Students were trained by Global Vision Infocon Services Pvt Ltd.
• 58 out of 64 students of computer science passed certificate examination on “Field Network Technician” conducted by National Skill Development Corporation through Electornic Sector Skill Council under PMKVY program. Students were trained by UTL Technologies Ltd.

Career Guidance and Placement Cell

• 22 of our students and 5 students of RV College of Arts and Science were trained under RACE Programme for 24 days in the Redington Smart Learning Centre of our college and placed in the companies as detailed below:

Ten out of Eleven of our college students were selected in the Off-Campus Interview conducted by Reliance Retail Private Limited Company, Coimbatore on 06.06.2016.

Nine of our college students have attended the Off-Campus Interview conducted by Home Credit India Finance Limited, Coimbatore on 07.06.2016. One student got placed.

“Placement Training Program” was started for I and II year students of UG on 4 July 2014.

• Reddington (READ) Programme was commenced on 04.07.2016 for Final year Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry students.

Rameshkumar, Director of Physical Education is serving as a Coach in the Bharathiar University Kho-Kho (Male) team to participate in the south-zone Inter-university Kho-Kho tournament to be held at Mangalore University from 11.01.2017 to 13.01.2017. The coaching camp is scheduled from 04.01.2017 to 10.01.2017 in our college premises.
• Sri G. Balasundar, Director of Physical Education acted as a Coach in the Bharathiar University softball team. The team will participate in the All India Softball tournament to be held at Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala from 28.01.2017 to 31.01.2017. The Coach camp is being conducted in our college ground from 21.01.2017 to 27.01.2017.

• Premkumar, III B.Sc Computer Science secured third place in the Bharathiar University Inter-collegiate TAEKWONDO Competition in the under 74kg category held at CMS College, Coimbatore on 30.01.2017
• The Department of Physical Education organized Sports day celebrations on 31.03.2017. Swami Anapekshananda, Correspondent, Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Polytechnic College presided over the function and Dr. P.J. Sebastian, Professor, Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University – General and Adapted Physical Education and Yoga, Coimbatore Campus acted as a chief guest. Swami Anapekshananda hoisted the National Flag and Dr.P.J. Sebastian hoisted the Sports day Flag. Sports leader V. Paneerselvam, III B.Sc Computer Science received the torch from Swami Anapekshananda. Dr. P.J. Sebasitan inaugurated the sports day celebration.  Dr. P.J. Sebastian and Dr. K.Kandappan, Dean, Students Support Services distributed prizes to students and staff members.

• An INCITE (Innovative Nimble Commerce Inspirational Tangible Education) programme  was conducted in collaboration with ICAI, Coimbatore from 2 Dec to 4 Dec 2016 which is a residential camp of 3 days to attract talented commerce students of +2 to create awareness of Accounting Policies, Taxation Rules, Banking  Procedures and Economical issues. CA Shanmugavadivel, Chairman, ICAI, Coimbatore Chapter, inaugurated the function, Swami Garishthananda, Secretary of the college blessed the occasion, Dr C Jayabalakrishnan, Principal, welcomed the gathering. 99 students from 11 schools participated in the different events organized by the college. • L/CPL U.K. Karikalan, NCC Cadet hoisted the National Flag on 13.02.2017. He was honored as he had attended the Republic Day Parade in New Delhi.
• Value Added Courses of 40 hours of teaching by Chartered Accountants on Income Tax, Sales Tax, VAT, Excise Duty, ESI and PF have been conducting for B.Com students on 7 Jan 2017. • Sri S Padmanabhan, CEO of Easy Design System,  and his team started classes on “Internet of Things” of 120 hours for 30 students of III year Computer Science, IT and Computer Application on 25 Jan 2017.
