Our college was started officially on 22.07.1964. Our department was started from the inception of our college.All of our Department Staff Members got Doctoral Degree in Tamil. Our Department completed one major research project and two minor research Project under the financial assistance from UGC. Our Department organized two national level and two state level seminars, financial assistance by UGC. Through our department 5 Research scholars were completed their Ph.D Degree and 21 scholars awarded M.Phil degree. Our Staff members were participated several national international seminars and presented papers. Our faculty members actively involved in curriculum design and also member in Board of Studies in various Universities and affiliated colleges. Our staff members acted as judges for various competitions organized by our institution as well as other organizations.
