♦   All the departments conducted Board of studies meeting on 14.03.2016.

♦   Board of Studies meeting for Co-curricular activities was held on 15.03.2016.

♦   The Department of Electronics started “Certificate Course on Mobile Phone Services” in collaboration with New Technologies, Coimbatore.

♦   The programme was inaugurated by Swami Garishthananda on 11.03.2016. A total of 39 students from B. Sc. Electronics, B. Sc. Computer Science and       B. Sc. Physics enrolled in the course.

♦   The Research and Faculty Enrichment Council (RFEC) organized an Information Literacy training Programme for teaching and nonteaching staff members of our college on 31.03.2016 at Mini Auditorium. Dr. R. Jayabal, Librarian explained about the Library Resources and Services. ♦   A total of 156 staff members attended the programme.

♦   Department of Mathematics organized a one-day workshop on “Mathematical Aptitude for Competitive Examinations” on 12.02.2016 at the mini auditorium. Sri D. Gunasekaran and Dr. A. Devika, Associate Professors, PSG College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore, served as resource persons. A total of 103 UG & PG students and 17 research scholars attended the workshop.

♦   The Department of Physics conducted a State Level Symposium on “ALBEDO’16” on 04.03.2016. Swami Garishthananda, inaugurated the function. Dr. M. Daniel, Director, Quality and Projects, SNS Insitutions, Coimbatore, Former Professor and Chair, School of Physics, Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirapalli delivered the Keynote address. 148 students from various colleges and 153 students from our Physics department students participated in the programme.

♦   Two- day International Conference on “Modern Perspectives of Advaita, Myth and Yoga for Day to Day Life” was organized by the department of Tamil on 08.03.2016, and 09.03.2016 at G.K.D. Auditorium. Swami Abhiramanandaji, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya inaugurated the Conference, blessed the gathering and released the conference souvenir.

♦   The Department of Mathematics conducted a one day workshop on “Innovation in Learning of Mathematics (Solstice-16)” on 11.03.2016. Swami Nirmaleshananda, Assistant Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya delivered the presidential address, Dr. N. Muthiah, Principal, Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya College of Education delivered the special address. A total no. of 260 students participated in the Workshop which includes 160 students from our college and 100 students from twelve different colleges.

♦   Curriculum Development Cell (CDC) of our college organized a One- day Seminar on “Value Education” as a part of student enrichment programme at the GKD Auditorium for I year UG students on 16.03.2016. Swami Garishthananda presided over the function and blessed the gathering. Swami Harivratananda, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya delivered a talk on “Spiritual Values” Dr. M. Sivasubramanian, Assistant Professor of Tamil, Government Arts College, Udumalpet delivered a talk entitled “Individual Values”. Dr. P. Thirunavukkarasu, Associate Professor of Electronics, SRMV College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore delivered a lecture on “Social Values”.

♦   Dr. R. Gokul, Assistant Professor of Tamil, SRMV College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore has given a talk on “Cultural Values”. A Total number of 420 students and 50 staff members participated and benefited in the programme. At the end of the programme five video clippings have been telecast to the students for insisting the importance of agriculture, National Flag, Humanity and Jallikattu.

♦   The Department of Chemistry conducted a One- day Inter collegiate Chemistry Students’ meet – CHEMFUSION’ 16 on 18.03.2016 at the GKD Auditorium.  Swami Punyavratananda presided over the function. Dr. R. Rajalakshmi, Professor and Head, Department of Chemistry, Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women, Coimbatore delivered the Inaugural address. A total of 360 students participated in the programme which includes 186 students from fourteen educational institutions (Four Universities & 10 colleges). Swami Punyavratananda presided over the Valedictory function and distributed prizes and certificates.

 

♦   The Department of English conducted “The House of Thespians and Avon Fest’16” on 21.03.2016 at the mini auditorium in commemoration of Shakespeare. Dr.C.Jayabalakrishnan, Principal inaugurated the function and delivered a special address. A total number of 105 students participated in various literary activities such as Recitation, Poem composing, Tableau, Quiz, Story Twist, Skit, Miming and won prizes.

♦   Tamil Nadu State Eligibility Test (TNSET-2016) examination for lectureship was held on 21.02.2016 on our college premises. A total of 560 candidates appeared for the examination.

♦   Sri M. K. Prakash, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Computer Application, successfully completed an online course on “Learning How to Learn: Powerful Mental Tools to Help You Master Tough Subjects” conducted by University of California, San Diego, through ‘Courseera’. He secured 82.2% in the examination.

 

♦   Dr. S. Rameshkumar, Director, Dept. of Physical Education, was appointed Coach of the Bharathiar University Kho-Kho team for the South Zone Inter-University Kho-Kho Tournament held at Annamalai University from 27.01.2016 to 31.01.2016. The team secured fourth place and subsequently participated in the All India Inter-University Kho-Kho Tournament held at Amity University, Noida, Uttar Pradesh, from 23.02.2016 to 26.02.2016.

♦   Graduation Day Ceremony was held on 29.02.2016 at Venkatakrishna Indoor Stadium. Swami Abhiramanandaji Maharaj, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya delivered presidential address. Dr. N. Muthaiah, Principal, Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya College of Education presented the Graduation Day Ceremony Address on behalf of Prof S. Thangasamy, Vice Chancellor, Tamilnadu Teachers Education University, Chennai. A total of 628 students graduated in this academic year 2015-16.

♦   Department of Physical Education organized Sports Day celebrations on 17.03.2016. Swami Tamoharananda presided over the function and Dr. S. Alagesan, Professor and Head, RKMVU acted as a Chief Guest. Swami Tamoharananda hoisted the National Flag.  Dr. S. Alagesan hoisted the Sports day Flag.  Sports leader S. Manoj, III BCom CA received the torch from Swami Tamoharananda. Dr. S. Alagesan inaugurated the sports day Celebration. Swami Garishthananda, Swami Tamoharananda, Dr. C. Jayabalakrishnan, Principal distributed the prizes to students and staff members.

♦   Our College Library organized an Information Literacy Training Programme on 7th and 8th March 2016 at the mini auditorium for I and II year UG students and I year PG students to create awareness among the students about the Library resources and services. A total of 360 students attended the program and benefited.

♦   Research and Faculty Enrichment Council (RFEC) organized a Training Programme entitled “Hands on Training of Sophisticated Instruments for Research Scholars” for the benefit of Research Scholars in the departments of Physics and Chemistry on 08.03.2016. All the HODs, RFEC members and a total of 20 Research scholars from Physics and Chemistry departments participated in the programme.

Personality Development Programme Organized

♦   Swami Nirmaleshananda delivered a talk on “Nishtha” for B.Com (CA) students on 10.02.2016.

Swami Harivratananda delivered a talk on “You are the creator of your own destiny” for B.Sc (CS) students on 12.02.2016.

♦   Swami Tamoharananda Maharaj delivered a talk on “Concentration as taught by our Scriptures” for B.Com students on 26 Feb 2016.

♦   Sri K Thangavel, PG Teacher of Tamil, Swami Sivananda Higher Secondary School, delivered a talk on “Shivarathri” for B.Com (CA) students on 8 March 2016.

Students Academic Achievements

♦   Sri R. Venkateshkumar,   M.Sc Physics has successfully completed Graduate Aptitude test in Engineering (GATE) 2016 and secured 2180/9910 rank in the subject Physics.

♦   Sri R. Chandrasekar, I M.Sc Physics has selected for Indian Institute of Technology, Madras summer fellowship programme in the department of Physics for the period of two months from 16.05..2016 to 15.07.2016 with a stipend of Rs. 10000/- per month.

♦   Sri D. Ramprakash, II B.A English Literature has been received Youth Achievement Award for the year 2015 – 2016 which is awarded by Swami Vivekanandar Centre for Higher Education and Research, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore on 30.03.2016.

♦   Sri K. Sathya, Ph.D Scholar, Dept. of Chemistry, attended Winter School Programme on “Computational Chemistry” at UGC – Networking Research Centre, School of Chemistry, University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad, from 08.12.2015 to 24.12.2015.

♦   As part of a “Retail Marketing Practice” event organized on the occasion of Gurupuja on 03.01.2016, students of the Department of Cooperation were involved in selling garment items to public for an amount of Rs. 29,640/- (Rupees twenty nine thousand six hundred and forty only).

♦   In a meeting organized at the mini auditorium on 23.02.2015, Swami Garishthananda, Secretary of the College, thanked the teaching and non-teaching staff members of both aided and unaided wings of the College for their contribution to NAAC Re-accreditation work.

♦   The parents and teachers meet for the current first and second year students was held at two different sessions i.e. morning session from 10.30 to 12.30 for Computer Science stream, and afternoon session for Commerce stream from 2.30 to 4. The total strength of the students of both the first and the second year of both Computer Science and Commerce was 414 along with their parents.

♦   The session was initiated with the invocation song sung by our students. That was followed by the welcome address given by Dr. C. Jayabalakrishnan, Principal. Then Dr. R. Sridhar, Director, explained the already existing programmes of the college along with a brief note on the new time schedule of the college i.e. 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and certificate courses to the students.

♦   The Job-Oriented Certificate Courses to be offered by the college for the first and second year students of Computer Science from the next academic year was explained in detail by Mr. Jayakumar, Head of BCA. Mr. Vijayaganesh, Head of B.Com. CA explained the details of Job- Oriented Courses for the Commerce students.

♦   Then Mr. M .K. Prakash, Assistant Professor BCA, explained the range of improvement in the students’ recruitments at on-campus and off-campus placement drives for the last two academic years through a graphical power point presentation. Then there was a long interaction between parents, students and teachers that lasted almost for an hour with regard to the scope of the new certificate courses and its benefits.

♦   The interaction session was followed by Secretary Maharaj’s address in which he also gave a brief introduction about the fee details and features of DDU KAUSHAL Kendra, offered under B.Voc. (Bachelor of Vocation)- Automobile, Electrical and Electronics and Tool & Die Technology.

♦   The first session of the meet came to an end by the formal Vote of Thanks, proposed by Mr. C.R. Sakthivel, Head of Computer Science.
